General information
Noku Maldives occupies its own island, Kuda Funafaru, in Noonu Atoll and belongs to IHG’s Vignette Collection, a group of hotels run with an independent character. It is a small resort of just 50 villas: twenty set back in tropical greenery along the beach and thirty curving out over the lagoon. The lagoon is calm enough to swim across, and the house reef begins a few steps from the shore.
The island is valued for its quiet and its sense of distance, but just as much for its link to Maldivian culture. A full-size traditional Maldivian House holds a collection of everyday objects from island life — tools, vessels and keepsakes used here for generations — and in the evening Island Echoes brings guests to the bonfire for local myths told to the beat of bodu beru drums. Some of the produce is grown on the island itself. Stays are offered with breakfast or on half board.
Location
Kuda Funafaru lies in Noonu Atoll. The seaplane is the only way to reach it: the flight from Velana International Airport in Malé takes 45 minutes. Seaplanes operate in daylight only, so the transfer is arranged with the resort in advance, at least three days before arrival.
Spa
Funa Spa sits in a tropical garden and has six double treatment rooms. Its therapies draw on Asian healing traditions and natural local ingredients: the signature ritual pairs a foot bath with a coconut scrub, a body wrap and a massage with Maldivian coconut oil. The menu also covers Thai and Balinese massage, a warm herbal poultice massage, foot reflexology, a cooling after-sun wrap of cucumber, yoghurt and honey, facials made with natural ingredients and treatments for expectant mothers. Yoga takes place at sunrise and sunset in the spa pavilion above the Indian Ocean, with private classes available.
Sports & leisure
The reef and the lagoon come first, but the programme reaches further.
- Snorkelling on the house reef straight from the beach: clownfish, anemones, triggerfish, reef sharks, rays and turtles, plus guided turtle snorkelling trips
- A dive centre for all levels, from first-time discovery dives to experienced divers, with 34 dive sites in range known for grey reef sharks, rays, barracuda and turtles
- Boat trips with the resort’s marine team to the coral gardens of Noonu Atoll
- Kayaking, windsurfing and jet skiing
- Half-day catamaran sailing with snorkelling stops

Restaurants & bars
The cooking leans on local produce and Maldivian flavours; the island has two restaurants and two bars, and in-villa dining runs around the clock.
- Palms Restaurant — the main restaurant, right on the beach, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as buffet and à la carte: the day’s catch, grilled meats and international dishes, with a live band most evenings
- Thari Restaurant — a poolside Pan-Asian restaurant bringing together the flavours of Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives over candlelit tables
- Palms Bar — the main bar under palm-thatched roofs by the beach, with cocktails from Eastern and Western traditions, wines and beers
- Thari Bar — a smaller, quieter poolside bar looking out over the Indian Ocean
Swimming
The island is ringed by sandy beach and a calm lagoon, with the house reef starting just off the shore. Overwater villas have their own steps into the lagoon and beach villas open onto the sand. The outdoor pool beside Thari faces the ocean, with drinks, snacks and lunch served to the loungers.
Pets
Pets are not allowed.
Rooms
The island has 50 villas of 175–400 m²: twenty on the beach among the greenery and thirty over the water with direct lagoon access. All have generous sundecks, indoor and outdoor bathrooms and ocean views, and some categories add a private pool.
Each villa has a separate living area, a bathroom with a freestanding tub and walk-in shower, an included stocked minibar, an outdoor deck with a daybed and free Wi-Fi; all villas are non-smoking.
