About this hotel
General information
Madifushi Private Island occupies an island of the same name in Meemu Atoll, a quiet corner of the Maldives where a clear lagoon gives way to seagrass meadows and coral gardens. The resort puts nature first: dense tropical growth along the shore, soft sand and open ocean all round. There are 80 villas, each with its own pool – 30 set among the greenery on the beach and 50 on stilts over the lagoon.
Alongside a PADI 5-Star dive centre, Heal\Me Spa two restaurants and two bars, the island has a few less expected corners: Roanu Ge, a traditional Maldivian house; an open-air cinema deep in the jungle; and a silent-disco room with karaoke. A 24-hour concierge looks after guests, and Wi-Fi is free across the island.
Location
Madifushi lies in Meemu Atoll, an area known for whale sharks, manta rays and dolphins. The seaplane from Malé takes about 35 minutes; the resort also arranges the journey by domestic flight followed by speedboat.
Spa
Heal\Me Spa draws on ancient Asian healing traditions and Maldivian heritage. Treatments for one or for couples take place in rooms facing the lagoon, and the facilities include a dry Finnish sauna, a wet sauna, a steam room, a relaxation lounge and a boutique stocking local natural products. The menu covers Ayurvedic therapies such as shirodhara (warm herbal oil poured slowly over the forehead), massages, scrubs, wraps and facials, while the signature Heal\Me Lonu Veli and Heal\Me Signature Massage use fine white sand, freshly grated coconut, coconut milk and white sage smudging. The spa is open daily from 9am to 9pm, and some treatments can be taken in the villa.
Sports & leisure
The PADI 5-Star dive centre sits a short walk from the villas: beginners can try Discover Scuba Diving, while certified divers can progress through courses up to Divemaster. The reefs of Meemu Atoll bring whitetip reef sharks, hammerheads, manta and eagle rays, sea turtles including hawksbill and, in season, whale sharks.
- snorkelling: a house reef with coral gardens, reef sharks, rays and turtles; snorkelling gear is complimentary, and guided trips go to reefs further afield
- on the water: jet-ski tours (to a sandbank, a snorkelling spot or in search of dolphins), wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding, towable rides, Seabob, Flyboard, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes
- boat trips: a 90-minute sunset cruise on a traditional dhoni with wine and canapés, often with spinner dolphins (shared or private), and Maldivian hand-line fishing at sunset
- island hopping to the local islands of Muli, Mulah and Kolhufushi: fishing communities, coral-stone mosques and craft workshops
- on the island: Roanu Ge, a traditional house lashed together with coir rope, where guests learn how the coconut palm gave islanders timber, thatch, food and sweet toddy; a jungle cinema with daybeds under the canopy and the Silent DJ & Karaoke room with headphones and an LED floor (both for private evenings); the Sports Arena; a fitness centre
For children
Kokko Learning Studio is a kids' club conceived as a place of discovery. With experienced guides, children learn how island life depends on mariculture and agriculture, meet the plants and animals of the atolls and the world beneath the waves, and hear the islands' own stories through hands-on activities and storytelling.
Restaurants & bars
The island has two restaurants, two bars and round-the-clock in-villa dining; stays are offered with breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available, and the kitchen caters for dietary needs.
- Bluefin – the beachfront all-day restaurant with an open kitchen: breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner with Italian, Indian, Mediterranean, Asian and local dishes
- Farenheit – an evening steakhouse on the beach: surf-and-turf grills, slow-cooked beef and seafood served on hot stones
- Splash Bar – the main bar by the pool, facing the sunrise: classic and tropical cocktails by day and mellow music after dark
- Mojito – a sunset bar looking out over the lagoon: classic drinks and alcohol-free alternatives
- In Villa Dining – available around the clock, including floating breakfast in the villa’s own pool

A soft sandy beach and a wide clear lagoon surround the island. Beach villas open straight onto the sand, overwater villas have steps down into the lagoon, and every villa has its own pool. The main infinity pool lies beside Splash Bar.
