About this hotel
General information
Jawakara Maldives spreads across two islands in Lhaviyani Atoll, Mabin and Dheru, joined by a 650-metre bridge that runs over the house reef. Mabin is the larger of the pair — some 1.4 kilometres long and about 38 hectares — with thick tropical greenery, paths for walking and cycling, a golf course and most of the sports facilities. Dheru is far smaller and quieter, at around 6 hectares, with its own beach, restaurant and bars. Together the islands hold 290 villas: 202 on Mabin and 88 on Dheru.
The resort is designed for families and guests of every age, with clubs for children and teenagers, plenty of sport on land and water, its own dive centre and a sea turtle rescue centre. Stays are offered on bed and breakfast, half board, full board or the Premium All Inclusive plan, which covers three meals a day in the buffet restaurants, drinks at the bars, an à la carte lunch and dinner every five nights, a sunset dolphin cruise, golf, bicycles, snorkelling gear and the kids' club.
Location
Mabin (officially Maabinhura) and Dheru sit on the eastern rim of Lhaviyani Atoll. From Velana International Airport in Malé the transfer is a 35-minute seaplane flight. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so same-day transfers work for international flights landing roughly between 6:00 and 16:00, and guests can wait for their flight in the business lounge at the seaplane terminal.
Spa
Sulha Spa has two settings: Garden Spa among the tropical greenery of Mabin, and Water Spa over the lagoon with views across the Indian Ocean. Its approach draws on Ayurveda, with therapists combining massage, acupuncture and herbal medicine, using organic, chemical-free products and tailoring each treatment. The menu covers Ayurvedic therapies, restorative rituals, singing-bowl massage, yoga, meditation and a beauty salon, and there are treatments designed for younger guests too.
Sports & leisure
Most of the sport and entertainment is on Mabin, though guests staying on Dheru use it just as freely.
- Diving with Prodivers, a PADI 5 Star training centre: the full range of PADI courses, try dives and scheduled trips to more than 50 sites across Lhaviyani Atoll, with overhangs, caves, thilas and channels, turtles, rays, sharks and, in season, mantas
- Snorkelling on the large reef close to the islands: complimentary guided boat trips, sessions for beginners, and excursions in search of mantas and turtles

For children
Jawa Kids Club and Jawa Teen Club welcome children aged 4–17 every day from 9:00 to 19:00. Younger children go on coconut hunts, play at the splash pad, cook with the chefs, mix mocktails, build sandcastles, play mini football and junior golf and tour the island by buggy. Teenagers have a golf academy, football, water polo, pool zumba, tube rides, fishing trips, uninhabited-island picnics, boduberu drumming classes and beach barbecues. Babysitting can be arranged for children under four, children of 8 and 9 can try diving on the PADI Bubblemaker programme and older ones on Discover Scuba Diving. There is a children's pool, and Molo and Umi have children's menus.
Restaurants & bars
Each island has its own buffet restaurant, while the à la carte restaurants and bars are spread across both islands and the bridge between them.

- Aila — Mabin's second buffet restaurant, in the same style
- Vela — the buffet restaurant on Dheru, with international cooking and live stations

Swimming
Both islands are ringed by white sand, and the shallow, clear coral lagoon makes for easy swimming, children included. There are two freshwater infinity pools facing the ocean and a children's pool. Loungers and beach towels are complimentary on the beach and by the pools, and the over-water villas have steps straight down into the lagoon.

Every villa has a king-size bed, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, a safe, a sitting area, wardrobes, a desk with charging points, a sundeck with loungers, a table and chairs, a wine fridge, a minibar, an espresso machine, tea and coffee, a telephone, free Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth soundbar, a 48-inch TV, a bathroom with a rain shower and double basins, a hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and nightly turndown.
