Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa

About this hotel

General information

Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa occupies the island of Amingiri in North Malé Atoll, a green patch of land in a turquoise lagoon only twenty minutes by boat from the airport. Villas line the beach and stand on stilts over the water, and every one has its own pool. The resort is built as much for families as for couples: a large kids’ club and a space for teenagers sit alongside an adults-only bar over the lagoon.

The island has eight restaurants, bars and lounges, a spa with a hammam, a dive centre and an art studio, a padel court, a futsal pitch and a multi-sport court. The resort works with local partners on recycling and wastewater treatment, is phasing out single-use plastic, keeps food waste down and buys locally where it can. The grounds are entirely smoke-free.

Location

Amingiri lies in North Malé Atoll, 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé. The transfer runs around the clock and only by the resort’s own speedboat: a concierge meets guests at the airport and walks them to the jetty.

Spa

Amingiri Spa & Hammam offers massages, body wraps and facials that combine distinctive massage techniques with 16-point acupressure, as well as hammam rituals modelled on the ceremonies of old Turkish baths; there is a hammam room, a sauna and a salon with stylists. A separate sleep menu brings massage, guided meditation and breathwork to the villa. Scheduled sessions include sound baths, in-villa yoga, walk-and-soak outings on the beach and evening tea meditations. Skye, on the spa’s overwater deck, serves fresh, healthy drinks.

Sports & leisure

Days can be as active as guests like, in the water and on land.

  • Dive centre: eagle rays and colourful reef fish in the resort’s own lagoon, and more than 30 dive sites across North Malé Atoll for experienced divers
  • The resident marine biologist gives talks on sharks, corals and turtle research, leads trips by traditional dhoni to see green turtles and guides sunset boat rides, both shared and private
  • Water sports: jet skis, Seabob underwater scooters, flyboarding, towed inflatables, parasailing, speedboat rides and big-game fishing
  • Padel on a seaside court, tennis, badminton, volleyball and basketball on the multi-purpose court, and futsal with the resort team
  • Sunrise and sunset yoga and private aerial yoga; a gym and yoga pavilion open 24 hours, personal trainers, aqua aerobics, HIIT, Pilates and Tabata
  • Cocktail and kombucha classes, sunset painting and hands-on crafts in the art studio; photo sessions on the island
  • Evenings bring sundowner DJ sets over the water at Eden, live music at Aura and Habitat, and films under the stars on the beach

There is also a lifestyle boutique and a jewellery shop.

For children

Krakegiri Kids Club, one of the largest in the Maldives, has purpose-built spaces and its own children’s pool. The daily schedule runs from pirate cruises and treasure hunts to beach adventures, games, arts and crafts. Teenagers have a hangout of their own, with games, alcohol-free mocktail classes and sports competitions. Through the spa, Young Zen offers children and teenagers aged 5–18 age-appropriate scent journeys, spa rituals, beauty workshops and fitness sessions.

Restaurants & bars

Eight restaurants, bars and lounges stretch from breakfast by the sea to dinner over the water; beach dinners, sandbank picnics, floating breakfasts in the villa pool and a private cinema can also be arranged.

  • Habitat — high ceilings and an open kitchen by the sea: breakfast, then dinners that alternate between an à la carte menu of Western, Asian, Middle Eastern and Italian dishes and themed buffets
  • Origin — an overwater restaurant for refined Italian cooking: handmade pasta, seafood, quality meat and plant-based dishes; dinner only
  • Beach Shack — relaxed, feet-in-the-sand dining: wood-oven pizza by day, flame-grilled meat and seafood at night
  • Aura Pool Bar & Cocktail Lab — the pool bar, with a room of its own where bitters and kombuchas are brewed on site; light dishes by day, and on some evenings an Asian restaurant
  • Eden Champagne & Gin Bar — an intimate, adults-only overwater bar for champagne and gin
  • Sip Tea Lounge — tea traditions from around the world, from matcha latte and South Asian black teas to bubble tea and tea-based cocktails
  • Skye — fresh, healthy drinks on the spa’s overwater deck
  • Re:Fuel — a rooftop space with a private entrance and an alcohol-free bar serving light bites, plus outdoor movie nights and milkshake workshops
