About this hotel
General information
.Here is among the most intimate resorts in the Maldives: on Somewhere Island in Baa Atoll, just seven two-storey residences run along a natural sandbank from one end to the other. Each faces both sunrise and sunset, with en-suite bedrooms set over the water as well as on the beach. Around the island lies one of the largest private lagoons in the country, opening onto the ocean beyond. The residences take their names from Dhivehi words for the corals and reef formations of the surrounding waters.
Interiors draw on the island’s ecosystem and the silver tones of moonlight — sculptural lighting, reef-textured wall art, rattan, wood and stone, cocoon swing beds. Each stay is looked after by a dedicated Roohu team working quietly in the background, and a private chef cooks to the guests’ wishes. Stays are offered on a bed-and-breakfast or all-inclusive basis, and Somewhere Island can be reserved in full for a private celebration or gathering. The resort monitors its reef through 3D mapping, draws increasingly on solar power and works with communities across Baa Atoll.
Location
Somewhere Island sits on a natural sandbank in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the richest marine environments in the Indian Ocean, next to the Finolhu resort. Guests arrive by private seaplane or by boat, landing at an arrival pavilion whose sail-like roofs recall the traditional Maldivian dhoni, anchored by a coral sculpture.
Spa
Fehi Wellness blends holistic traditions with intuitive massage aimed at easing tension and restoring balance. On Somewhere, wellness journeys and bespoke spa treatments take place in the residences themselves, and the Four Bedroom Residence has its own treatment room. Private sunrise yoga and personal training sessions complete the offer.
Sports & leisure
Diving and snorkelling in Baa Atoll are led by experienced instructors and marine specialists, from drifts over coral gardens to deeper blue water. Watersports range from calm paddling across the lagoon to faster pursuits on the open sea. The private vessel ASMAS, with its own crew, can be chartered for secluded sandbanks, dolphin encounters, sunset sailings with a barbecue and dinners served on board.
The Roohu team can arrange a trip to the protected waters of Hanifaru Bay, where manta rays gather, followed by lunch on a deserted sandbank. Guests can take part in reef conservation by adopting coral fragments, snorkelling with marine biologists and joining PADI-certified programmes. Fitness sessions take place in the residences or in dedicated spaces, with yoga and a personal trainer on request. The activities and restaurants of neighbouring Finolhu are open to .Here guests as well.
Restaurants & bars
Dining at .Here is built around SAFAR, the Dhivehi word for journey: dishes travel across cuisines and are reinterpreted through island life.
- SAFAR Restaurant — overwater restaurant between lagoon and horizon, its form inspired by the dress of Bodu Beru dancers (the Maldivian drum dance); fresh seafood, seasonal produce and a charcoal-fired Josper grill at its heart
- SAFAR Bar — a central bar with a striking play of light and shadow, pouring cocktails inspired by travel and spice
- Private Dining — meals on a terrace at first light, on a secluded stretch of sand or in the residence, with menus shaped by season, taste and mood
The restaurants on neighbouring Finolhu are also open to .Here guests.
Swimming
Every residence has its own 45–47 m infinity pool raised above the island’s greenery, its tiles fading from forest green to ocean blue. A private jetty leads straight into the calm, clear lagoon, and the sandbank stretches the full length of the island.
