Hard Rock Hotel Maldives

About this hotel

General information

Hard Rock Hotel Maldives sits in Emboodhoo Lagoon in South Malé Atoll as part of CROSSROADS, a leisure destination spread over several islands. A footbridge of roughly 500 m leads to The Marina @ CROSSROADS, with its shops, restaurants, beach club and Hard Rock Cafe Maldives, and buggies run guests around the resort. The resort is Green Globe certified.

Music sets the tone. On request a Fender guitar or a record player with a stack of vinyl is brought to the villa, playlists are curated for each stay, the pool has an underwater sound system, and once a week guests gather in the garden for a sundown ritual with drinks and snacks. Evenings bring live bands, karaoke, DJ nights and pool parties. Board ranges from breakfast to half board, full board and two all-inclusive levels, some with dinners at the neighbouring resort and The Marina.

Location

The resort lies in Emboodhoo Lagoon in South Malé Atoll, 15–20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé; hotel representatives meet guests in the arrivals hall and walk them to the boat.

Spa

Rock Spa has four private oceanfront treatment rooms set right on the beach and gives classic treatments a musical twist. The signature Synchronicity Massage follows a dedicated soundtrack and uses coconut and argan oil; the Deluxe Massage blends Hawaiian lomi lomi, Balinese and Swedish techniques. Wrap Remix starts with a body polish, moves into an hour-long massage and finishes with a cleansing face mask and a cup of Rock Spa tea. Body wraps and vitamin therapies complete the menu.

Sports & leisure

Group classes are free and only private sessions are charged; snorkelling gear, kayaks and pedal boats are complimentary.

  • diving: the CROSSROADS dive centre is a PADI 5 Star centre, with courses for beginners and experienced divers and reef trips
  • water sports: JetCar, jet skis, parasailing, X-Jetpack and X-Jetblade water jetpacks and boards, hydrofoiling by kite, behind a boat, on a wave or on an electric board

For children

Roxity Kids Club takes children aged 3–11 and Teen Spirit teenagers aged 12–17; both open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, with indoor rooms, grassy and sandy play areas, a stage for performances, music lessons and beach games. Babysitters certified by Sitter Train look after children from seven months (charged, booked in advance), every restaurant has a children’s menu, and the pool has a water slide.

Restaurants & bars

The resort’s own venues sit on the beach and around the pool, with seven more restaurants and a beach club across the bridge at The Marina.

  • Sessions — the main restaurant, with an open kitchen: breakfast, à la carte dishes from around the world and buffet theme nights; its Chef’s Studio hosts private dinners for up to 12
  • The Elephant and The Butterfly — Mexican and Latin American cooking on the beach: ceviche and tiradito of local fish, soft tacos, guacamole made at the table, wines chosen by the sommelier
  • Pool Bar — a swim-up bar with underwater stools, cocktails, Pan-Latin snacks and a children’s menu
  • Private Dining — dinner on the beach, with a set menu, a barbecue or a menu built to order
  • In-Villa Dining — salads, pizza, pasta and grills delivered at any hour
  • Hard Rock Cafe Maldives — 450 m away at The Marina: American classics, live music every night and a collection of music memorabilia
Swimming

The main infinity pool appears to spill into Emboodhoo Lagoon and comes with a water slide, an underwater sound system and a swim-up bar.
