About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru occupies a green island in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its western tip is fringed by Blu Beach, a kilometre of white sand that runs out into a long sand spit, while the rest of the island is jungle, gardens and lagoon. The villas pair old Maldivian building methods with Sri Lankan forms: steep thatched roofs, coral walls and planted courtyards.
The island is best known for its connection to the ocean. An in-house Marine Discovery Centre has marine biologists tracking manta rays, nursing injured turtles and growing coral, with guests welcome to take part. The other pillar is AyurMa, an Ayurvedic wellbeing centre staffed by physicians and yoga therapists. The resort suits families, couples and divers alike.
Location
The resort sits on Landaa Giraavaru island in Baa Atoll, a 35–40-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport in Malé. It runs its own seaplanes, Flying Triggerfish and Flying Boxfish, and a lounge, The Island Café, at the seaplane terminal. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so guests landing in the evening stay overnight at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa in North Malé Atoll and continue the next morning.
Spa
AyurMa is built on four strands: Ayurveda, yoga therapy, wellness and care for the planet. A team of Ayurvedic physicians, naturopaths and yoga therapists designs personal programmes, from panchakarma detox courses to yoga therapy aimed at specific conditions. Every guest is offered a complimentary dosha consultation, and the two-hour PraMā screening goes further with biomarker tests, postural and metabolic assessment, pulse and iris diagnosis. Anti-gravity yoga and night-time spa rituals are among the less usual options, and each evening the team leads a complimentary gratitude ceremony with song and meditation. The centre is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00; the island also has a hair salon.
Sports & leisure
The dive centre is a PADI Five-Star Career Development Centre running a two-tank morning trip and a one-tank afternoon dive every day, plus sunrise and night dives on request, with reefs, thilas (underwater pinnacles), wrecks and freediving courses on offer. The Water Sports Centre on Blu Beach lends snorkelling gear, kayaks, catamarans and windsurfers free of charge; jet skis, wakeboarding and wakesurfing, parasailing, hydrofoiling, kitesurfing across a 2-km lagoon, Seabob scooters and X-Jetpacks cost extra. The Marine Discovery Centre runs Manta-on-Call boat trips, turtle safaris, dolphin cruises and coral-frame planting. There is also sunset fishing, sandbank picnics, overnight yacht cruises, big-game fishing charters, local-island visits and seaplane excursions. On land: a padel court, football, a 24-hour gym, a self-guided yoga trail and a Hologram Room where guests can ‘swim’ with mantas.
For children
The Kuda Velaa Kids’ Club (the name means ‘little turtle’) runs the Passport to Adventure and Mission: Landaa Giraavaru programmes for different ages, with a shallow children’s pool in its grounds. Children aged 8 and over can complete the PADI Seal Team aquamissions in a sheltered coral garden, younger ones can try PADI Bubblemaker, and the Hologram Room has games for the whole family. Babysitting is available on request.

Dining spans Italy, the Levant and Asia, with several venues built out over the lagoon.
- Blu Beach Club — all-day Italian: Neapolitan pizza, gelato, poolside cabanas and a creative dinner menu

- Café Landaa — Asian and regional dishes from a tandoor and curry kitchen in three pavilions set among ponds, plus a teppanyaki counter

In-villa dining runs around the clock, and special dinners are held in a tree house using herbs and greens from the island gardens. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, halal and Ayurvedic menus are available.
Swimming
Blu Beach stretches for a kilometre of white sand and ends in a sand spit. A sea wall shields the lagoon by the villas and bungalows from currents, so swimming is safe year-round. There are four pools: a 50-metre Olympic-size infinity pool cantilevered over the lagoon, a 20-metre seawater pool along the shore, Blu Pool for sunset views, and a children’s pool.
