Noonu Atoll

Cheval Blanc Randheli

About this hotel

General information

Opened in 2013, Cheval Blanc Randheli spreads across several islands in Noonu Atoll — gardens, white beaches and a lagoon of exceptionally clear water. Architect Jean-Michel Gathy designed the resort and artist Vincent Beaurin shaped its art collection, so French restraint plays out against a tropical backdrop. Every villa, whether on the beach or over the water, has its own pool, and a separate residence occupies a private island.

The spa sits on an island of its own, and the gastronomic heart of the resort is Le 1947 with its Wine Museum collection. Guests of all ages have children’s and teens’ clubs, diving, tennis, water sports and yacht outings to choose from. Butler and concierge services are on hand, along with boutiques, business services and a private jetty. Weddings and honeymoon programmes can be arranged.

Location

The resort lies on Randheli island in Noonu Atoll, around 40 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport in Malé.

Spa

Cheval Blanc Spa occupies its own island, reached by traditional dhoni. It has a hammam, steam room, cold plunge pool, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, a spa bar, pavilions for yoga and Thai massage, a hair salon, a spa boutique and six treatment villas — four single and two for couples. Programmes blend Asian and Western techniques with natural products and exclusive skincare.

Sports & leisure

The outdoor pool looks out over the ocean, and a separate pool is fitted with a surf simulator. The ocean-view fitness centre is equipped by Technogym; there is also a yoga and meditation studio and two tennis courts, one grass and one hard. Alongside the water sports centre and PADI dive centre, the resort offers boat trips with a marine biologist, cruises aboard its 30-metre Azimut yacht, deep-sea fishing and excursions.

For children

The Le Carrousel kids’ club has a pool with a slide, a playground and playrooms, while teenagers have Le Paddock, with board games and video games. Family programmes run throughout, and babysitting is available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Several restaurants and bars make up the dining scene; next to Le 1947 are a piano bar, a cigar lounge and the Wine Museum cellar, stocked with Old and New World wines.

  • The White — contemporary cooking with island accents, on a terrace facing the ocean
  • Le 1947 — gastronomic French dining overlooking the tropical garden
  • Deelani — Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar over the lagoon
  • Diptyque — Japanese and East Asian dishes from an open kitchen
  • La Table de Partage — an art-filled room for private dinners
  • White — pool bar serving drinks and light bites
  • Spa bar — healthy dishes and drinks

In-villa and private dining are available.

Swimming

The islands are fringed with sandy beaches, and the overwater villas have steps straight into the lagoon.
