General information
Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur sits at the very centre of the capital, between the flowering gardens of KLCC Park and the Petronas Twin Towers, to which it is directly linked. It is a large city hotel of 570 rooms, 20 suites and 39 fully serviced apartments, most of them looking out over the park, the towers or the skyline, with interiors that pair classic elegance with contemporary art and Malaysian touches.
Club rooms and suites come with MO Club, a lounge with 270-degree views serving breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Seven restaurants, bars and a cake shop range from classic Cantonese at Lai Po Heen to a grill room facing the park, and there is a spa built around Malaysian rituals, an outdoor infinity pool above the park, a tennis centre and a kids’ club. For events the hotel has two ballrooms and thirteen further function rooms, and it hosts Malay, Oriental and Western weddings.
Location
The hotel stands in the Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur’s business, dining and entertainment district, with direct links to the Petronas Twin Towers, the KLCC Convention Centre and the Suria KLCC mall. KLCC Park and its fountains, the Petrosains science centre and Aquaria KLCC are next door, and Bukit Bintang is about a 10-minute walk. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is around 60 km away, 45–75 minutes by road; the hotel arranges transfers, including an electric-vehicle option. Alternatively, the ERL express train reaches KL Sentral in 28 minutes from Terminal 1 or 31 minutes from Terminal 2, followed by a 15-minute light-rail ride to KLCC.
Spa
The Spa blends long-standing Asian healing traditions with contemporary therapies. It has five single treatment rooms and a couple’s room, heat and water facilities with sauna, steam room and hot tub, a relaxation lounge, a nail salon, a hair and beauty salon and a spa boutique. Signature work draws on Malaysian practice: the rhythmic Urut Melayu massage with locally sourced oils, the Tungku herbal-poultice massage, and the Borneo Ritual, which uses East Malaysian spices such as clove, ginger, nutmeg, kaffir lime and cinnamon and ends with a warm coconut-oil scalp massage and a facial. Facials use 111SKIN, and the menu also covers pregnancy treatments, sound therapy and physiotherapy for sports injuries. Guests must be 16 or over.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre, equipped by Technogym, is open around the clock, with certified trainers for personal programmes and a Mind & Body studio for yoga and Pilates classes. Tennis Avenue offers outdoor hard-court tennis with floodlights for evening play, court hire, private and semi-private lessons and a small tennis shop. Between sessions there is the outdoor infinity pool with its view of the city’s towers.
For children
The Little Explorer Club on Level 3 welcomes young hotel guests aged 4–11 daily from 11am to 7pm, with a daily programme of storytelling, animated films, creative play, hands-on crafts and even a children’s fashion catwalk. Instructors run tennis and pickleball sessions for young players, a separate children’s pool sits beside the main pool, and the team can set up an indoor camping adventure with tents or a themed party in the room. Mosaic and AQUA have children’s menus.
Restaurants & bars
Most of the restaurants look out over KLCC Park, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
- Lai Po Heen — classic Cantonese cooking and lunchtime dim sum, an open kitchen, interiors inspired by the ancestral homes of 19th-century Chinese merchants, and seven private dining rooms
- Mosaic — all-day dining with buffets and an à la carte menu: Malaysian, Indian, Chinese and Western dishes, sushi and sashimi, live cooking stations, Peranakan-inspired interiors and a Sunday seafood lunch
- Mandarin Grill — a modern grill room with wagyu and Black Angus steaks, an extensive wine list and floor-to-ceiling windows onto the park
- AQUA Restaurant & Bar — poolside dining above the park with wood-fired pizzas, tapas, signature cocktails and alcohol-free drinks
- Lounge On The Park — from morning coffee to themed afternoon tea, with 15 premium teas, an island bar, a pianist in the afternoon and a live band in the evening
- MO Bar — a cocktail bar with one of the city’s finest selections of single malt whisky
- The Mandarin Cake Shop — a ground-floor patisserie for house-made chocolates, cakes, pastries, macarons, breads and teas
Swimming
The outdoor infinity-edge pool sits on a terrace above KLCC Park, facing the city skyline. Beside it are a children’s pool, cabanas and tented daybeds, and AQUA serves food and cocktails at the water’s edge.
