NARUTIS hotel

About this hotel

General information

NARUTIS hotel is a five-star boutique hotel on Pilies Street, in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It occupies several 15th- and 16th-century townhouses listed as architectural monuments, whose fabric blends Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Travellers have been lodged within these walls since the 16th century, and vaulted cellars, Gothic arches, timber ceiling beams and wall paintings from the 16th to the 18th centuries survive throughout.

There are 49 rooms and suites over five floors, and the historic layout means no two are alike. The house has the NARUTIS restaurant, serving European and Lithuanian cooking, a summer terrace on the Old Town’s main street, a bar in classic British style and a spa with a pool in the 16th-century cellars. Three period rooms — Fireplace, Columns and Arches — host meetings, banquets and weddings; the walls and ceiling of the Columns Hall are covered with mid-18th-century paintings of mythological scenes.

Location

The hotel stands on Pilies Street, the main street of Vilnius Old Town, which runs between Town Hall Square and Cathedral Square. Its entrance and most rooms face the Church of St Johns and the central building of Vilnius University; Cathedral Square is about 300 m away, Gediminas’ Tower and the Town Hall 500 m, and twelve Baroque churches lie within 400 m. Vilnius Airport is 10 km away, and the bus and railway stations 2 km. A car is not needed in the Old Town, but the hotel has its own private car park.

Spa

The spa is set in vaulted 16th-century cellars, with a pool featuring cascades, underwater jets and a whirlpool area, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a separate massage room. Entry is free for hotel guests, and the spa is open daily from 7:00 to 22:00. A 60-minute full-body massage is offered and should be booked at least two hours ahead. The spa can also be reserved for a private four-hour session for groups of up to ten.

Sports & leisure

The heart of the hotel’s leisure offer is its underground spa with pool, sauna and Turkish bath. Running paths through the Bernardine Garden lie 300 m from the door, and cycle routes thread through the narrow streets of the Old Town. Cathedral Square, Gediminas’ Tower and its viewpoint, Užupis, the Gate of Dawn and St Anne’s Church are all within walking distance, as are museums, galleries, the Philharmonic and theatres.

Restaurants & bars

Dining takes place in the historic rooms of the house on Pilies Street.

  • Restaurant NARUTIS — a 40-seat restaurant serving European cuisine alongside traditional Lithuanian dishes made with produce from local farmers; its windows look onto Pilies Street, and 18th-century wall paintings and artworks set off a burgundy and ginger palette
  • Terrace restaurant — the restaurant’s open-air terrace on the Old Town’s main street, serving from breakfast until late evening in season
  • Bar — a bar in classic British style with a fine drinks list, a broad choice of champagne, desserts, snacks and a collection of organic teas
  • Cellar Restaurant — three 16th-century Gothic halls where a hot breakfast buffet is served each morning, made with produce from Lithuanian farms
Swimming

An indoor pool with cascades, underwater jets and a whirlpool area sits in the spa in the 16th-century cellars, and is open to hotel guests at no extra charge.
