About this hotel
General information
Promenade Hotel is a five-star design hotel on the port promenade of Liepāja on the Kurzeme coast. It occupies an 18th-century port spīķeris, a dark red-brick warehouse that once held cloth, grain and salt shipped in from distant lands. The conversion kept the old timber beams and plank floors, and a contemporary palette of wood, stone, leather and glass sets them off rather than hiding them.
Every room is individually designed, so no two share the same layout or size, and many windows look out over the waterfront, the moored ships and the Lielais dzintars concert hall. The hotel has the Piano restaurant and bar, cooking with Latvian produce, a relaxation area with saunas and BABOR treatments, a business centre, and several halls plus a terrace for meetings, banquets and celebrations.
Location
The hotel stands on Vecā Ostmala, the port promenade along the Trade Canal in the very centre of Liepāja, a few steps from the Old Town. The white sandy beach and the Seaside Park are a 15-minute walk away, and public transport for trips out of town stops 100 m from the door. Parking in front of the hotel is free when space allows, and transfers can be arranged on request.
Spa
The relaxation and treatment area fills the third floor, with a steam sauna, a Finnish sauna, a cold plunge tub and two treatment rooms working with the German brand BABOR. The menu covers classic, relaxing, aromatherapy and lymphatic drainage massages, face and head massages and massages for mothers-to-be, a 40-minute children’s massage, along with body rituals: a salt scrub with an algae wrap, a warming orange-and-cinnamon ritual, a chocolate ritual and a ritual for tired feet. Anyone booking a massage or body treatment may use the saunas beforehand at no charge; treatments are booked at least three hours ahead.
Sports & leisure
Guests have use of the hotel’s fitness facilities and the saunas of the relaxation area. Walks start at the front door, along the port promenade and through the lanes of the Old Town, while the white sandy beach and the Seaside Park lie 15 minutes away on foot. The hotel also works well as a base for exploring Kurzeme independently: public transport stops 100 m away and transfers can be booked at reception.
Restaurants & bars
The Piano restaurant and bar is a lively meeting point for hotel guests and locals alike. Its large windows face either the port of Liepāja or the Lielais dzintars concert hall, and the varied, refined menu is built on Latvian produce, notably freshly baked bread and fish landed off the Liepāja coast. Breakfast is served daily, a business lunch on weekdays and a leisurely brunch on selected Sundays, with live music on Saturday evenings.
Swimming
The hotel has no pool. The white sandy Baltic beach and the Seaside Park are a 15-minute walk away.
Pets
Pets are welcome for an additional charge; dogs are kept on a lead in the hotel’s public areas.
