Grand Palace Hotel

About this hotel

General information

Grand Palace Hotel is a classic five-star address in Riga Old Town and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, set a few steps from Riga Cathedral and Riga Castle. It occupies a five-storey late-19th-century building; a stately lobby beneath a crystal chandelier sets the tone, while the rooms pair classic elegance with a cool, restrained palette and contemporary comfort.

There are 56 rooms and suites, the Seasons restaurant with a seasonal menu built on local produce, Pils Bar, and the light-filled, glass-roofed Orangerie, which serves breakfast and hosts private dinners and celebrations. The mood is intimate and unhurried: a 24-hour reception and room service, evening turndown, homemade chocolate truffles for guests, plus a sauna, a relaxation area and a gym.

Location

The hotel stands at Pils iela 12 in Riga’s UNESCO-listed historic centre. Dome Square and Riga Cathedral, the House of the Blackheads, the Latvian National Opera and the Daugava embankments are all within walking distance, and Riga Castle is right next door. Riga Airport is about 10 km away, and guests arriving by car have secure parking directly at the hotel.

Spa

The hotel’s small wellness area is open daily: the sauna can be used around the clock, alongside a quiet relaxation zone.

Sports & leisure

A modern fitness centre covers workouts, with the sauna and relaxation zone to follow. The Old Town location makes walking the easiest pastime — the medieval lanes, Dome Square and the Daugava embankments are on the doorstep — and a doctor can be called on request.

Restaurants & bars

Dining at the hotel is spread across three rooms.

  • Seasons Restaurant — an elegant restaurant serving modern cuisine from a seasonal menu of local produce; open in the evenings, Monday to Saturday
  • Pils Bar — the hotel’s stylish bar, with signature cocktails, a wide drinks list and a snack menu, open daily from midday into the evening
  • Orangerie — a bright, glass-roofed hall under a chandelier, serving breakfast every morning (buffet and à la carte) and hosting private dinners and celebrations

Room service runs around the clock.

Pets

Pets are welcome, and the hotel provides bowls and blankets for them.
