About this hotel
General information
Waldorf Astoria Osaka occupies the upper floors of the south tower of Grand Green Osaka in the Umekita district, above an urban park and beside Osaka Station. Interiors pair art deco opulence with traditional Japanese materials and blend Eastern and Western motifs, while floor-to-ceiling windows look out from Osaka Bay to the mountains of Hyogo. Kyoto, Kobe and Nara are all less than an hour away.
There are 252 rooms and suites and four restaurants and bars, ranging from a French brasserie to sushi and teppanyaki, along with the Peacock Alley lounge for afternoon tea and Canes & Tales, a cocktail bar with a Jazz Age mood. The 30th floor holds a pool overlooking the bay and a quiet library, next to the Waldorf Astoria Spa and its rituals drawn from Japanese tradition. A personal concierge helps with plans in the city and journeys across Japan. For celebrations there is a ballroom for up to 350 guests and a chapel with city views.
Location
The hotel sits in the Umekita district of Kita ward, Osaka, in the south building of Grand Green Osaka: about 5 minutes on foot from the underground exit of Osaka Station and 8–13 minutes from the Umeda stations. The Grand Front Osaka complex is 300 m away, Osaka Castle 3.5 km and Dotonbori 5 km. Shin-Osaka Station is about 5 minutes by JR. From Itami Airport it is about 30 minutes by taxi, or 25 minutes by Airport Limousine bus to the Herbis Osaka terminal and a 6-minute walk; from Kansai Airport about an hour by taxi or 50 minutes by JR limited express to Osaka Station.
Spa
Waldorf Astoria Spa works with the Burgener Switzerland skincare line, and its signature rituals draw on Japanese traditions — the tea ceremony, amazake and the tones of temple bells. The menu covers meditations, facials, massages and body treatments. The signature Vitality is a shiatsu-inspired massage with a warm green tea infusion ball, breathing exercises and stretching; Full Moon Meditation pairs a sound bath with guided breathing. Spa facilities include the indoor pool, a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and a steam room.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is open around the clock, and sessions with a personal trainer can be arranged on request. Alongside the pool, the 30th floor has a library with a curated selection of art books, where hotel guests can unwind over coffee or tea free of charge. A personal concierge helps put together routes around Osaka and trips to other parts of Japan.
For children
Childcare is among the hotel’s services.
