The Terrace Club Wellness Thalasso at Busena

About this hotel

General information

The Terrace Club Wellness Thalasso at Busena is a small, 68-room resort on Cape Busena in northern Okinawa, conceived as a seaside wellness retreat run with the attentiveness of a boutique hotel. Its days are shaped around movement, nourishment and rest: trainer-led sessions, cooking built on Okinawan produce and thalassotherapy using seawater drawn straight from the cape. The resort is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

It is a grown-up place: stays and all facilities are open to guests aged 13 and over. Every guest enjoys club privileges — afternoon tea and an evening aperitif in the library lounge — while a butler service takes care of practical requests. Rooms are generous, from 54 m², each with a wide terrace and daybed facing the sea.

Location

The resort sits on the eastern neck of Cape Busena in the city of Nago, within Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park and a protected marine zone of coral reef; with water on three sides, the cape catches both sunrise and sunset. Naha Airport is about 75 minutes by car via the Okinawa Expressway or around 90 minutes along Route 58, and the Airport Limousine Bus takes roughly 90 minutes. A chauffeur-driven transfer can also be arranged by the hotel.

Spa

At the heart of the resort is Wellness Thalasso, where thalassotherapy is organised into four strands — movement, water, heat and the marine climate. Facilities include a consultation room, the open-air seawater Thalasso Pool, a dry sauna, a hammam, a marine aerosol napping room, 13 treatment rooms and relaxation rooms. Treatments range from algae wraps and body and head care to personal stretching, using THALGO marine products, NUCCA herbal skincare and the house line Wellness Thalasso Original. For longer stays there are the Healthy Life, Active Rest, Detox Renewal, Essentially Thalasso and Good Sleep programmes, each opening with a private consultation in which a trainer plans meals, light exercise and treatments.

Sports & leisure

The light-filled Training Gym has machines and equipment, and instructors lead personal stretching and exercise sessions there as well as group yoga. The Thalasso Pool hosts daily aquarobics and floating relaxation sessions, and the wellness menu adds aqua fitness, walks around Cape Busena and beach walking. The Hotel Selection boutique stocks thalassotherapy products and keepsakes.

Restaurants & bars

The kitchen draws on Okinawa itself — produce from local farms and the island’s seafood; dinner calls for something smarter than casual wear, and no flip-flops.

  • Fine Dining — bayside restaurant serving Okinawan-inspired wellness cuisine at breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Library Lounge & Bar — library lounge overlooking Nago Bay, with afternoon tea and an evening aperitif for all guests and live piano at night
  • Thalasso Cafe — airy café within Wellness Thalasso for light lunches, vegan dishes, gluten-free pasta, ramen, fresh juices, herbal teas and detox water
  • Poolside Bar — open-air bar by the Infinity Pool for cocktails, craft beers and light snacks
  • In-Room Dining — room service
Swimming

The open-air Thalasso Pool is filled with seawater from Cape Busena and kept at 33–36 °C, so it is used all year; its 14 areas include a walking course, jets for legs, back, shoulders and neck, an aerated seawater bath, a fitness pool, an unheated seawater pool and a relaxation pool. In season the Infinity Pool opens with deck chairs and its own bar. The beach in front of the hotel is not for swimming, while Busena Beach next door is a short walk away.
