The St. Regis Osaka

About this hotel

General information

The St. Regis Osaka rises 27 storeys above Midosuji avenue in the heart of the city’s business district. Its 160 rooms and suites pair contemporary interiors with selected art and ceramics and Kyoto silks, and the headboards are upholstered in silk patterned with ginkgo and cherry blossom, emblems of Osaka and of Japan. The suites draw on Osaka’s waterways and the art of the Azuchi-Momoyama era, with flowing lines, layered textures, Nishijin-ori woven silk and soft touches of gold. The lobby sits on the 12th floor beside The St. Regis Garden, a terrace above the city modelled on Japanese stone gardens.

The hotel’s defining feature is the round-the-clock St. Regis Butler Service, which handles packing and unpacking, pressing, shoe shining, restaurant reservations and whatever else a stay requires. Every day at 5 pm a bottle of champagne is opened with a sabre on the 12th floor for the Evening Ritual, and the bar serves afternoon tea and its own Shogun Mary. Four restaurants, a bar, a spa on the 14th floor and breakfast served at any hour complete the picture; separate halls host weddings and celebrations.

Location

The hotel stands in Hommachi, in Osaka’s Chuo ward, on Midosuji avenue between the shopping districts of Umeda and Shinsaibashi. The building has direct underground access to Hommachi Station on the Osaka Metro, a minute’s walk from Exit 7, and the station links three subway lines. Osaka Castle is about 10 minutes away by train, and Kyoto and Nara are within easy reach. Itami Airport lies 16 km away; the hotel runs no shuttle, but a car with driver can be booked on site, and airport limousine buses to Kansai leave from the OCAT terminal in Namba.

Spa

IRIDIUM featuring SOTHYS is a 355 m² spa on the 14th floor, staffed by therapists trained at the Sothys Institut in Paris. Treatments for face and body use Sothys products and include scrubs and wraps, massages, also for couples, scalp and hair care, paraffin hand treatments, foot baths, manicures and pedicures. Men and women have separate lounges, and treatments are by appointment.

Sports & leisure

A gym equipped for everyday workouts is reserved for hotel guests. Every afternoon at 4.30 pm the butlers host Butler’s Hour, a short introduction to Osaka’s culture, crafts and flavours through tours of the hotel’s art collection, local tastings and seasonal cultural activities. The butlers also help plan outings around the city, to Osaka Castle, Dotonbori and the Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street, as well as trips to Kyoto and Nara.

Restaurants & bars

The hotel has four restaurants and a bar, and breakfast, whether Western, Japanese, Italian or vegetarian, is served around the clock in the restaurant or in the room, alongside the in-room dining menu.

  • La Veduta — an Italian restaurant on the 12th floor with interiors in the spirit of a Tuscan villa, cooking with seasonal Japanese and Kansai produce, themed seasonal “Stagione” menus and a list of around 3,000 bottles with a focus on Italy; breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Brasserie RÉGINE — a contemporary French brasserie on the ground and first floors with a terrace, serving classic dishes built on produce from across Japan and especially Kansai, at lunch, tea time and dinner
  • Teppanyaki Wajo — teppanyaki with a French accent, featuring Japanese beef including Kobe and Matsusaka, seafood from the Seto Inland Sea and Kyoto vegetables, with the Soan private dining room for up to eight, styled after a golden tea room, and the Taian communal room for guests aged 12 and over
  • The St. Regis Bar — on the 12th floor behind heavy walnut doors, with blue leather-panelled walls, a corniced silver-plated ceiling and TOUGEN, a mural in the manner of old Japanese folding screens showing Osaka past and present; afternoon tea, champagne, 15 New York-inspired cocktails and the Shogun Mary with yuzu, wasabi and soy sauce
  • Le Petit Chef — a dedicated dining room on the 11th floor where dinner is accompanied by animation projected in 3D straight onto the plates
Pets

Pets are not accepted at the hotel.
