About this hotel
General information
The Okura Tokyo is made up of two buildings set around a traditional karesansui garden: the 17-storey Okura Heritage Wing, an expression of refined Japanese aesthetics, and the contemporary Prestige Tower. The hotel’s story began in 1962; since then it has received royalty and heads of state, hosted major official occasions and become part of the city’s own history.
It has kept an impeccable reputation, a distinctly Japanese character and a warm welcome. Guests find spacious rooms with city views, fine Asian and European restaurants, a spa with a pool, conference halls, a shopping arcade and the hotel’s own Okura Museum of Art, holding some 2,500 works. The Okura Tokyo is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and arranges weddings and honeymoon programmes.
Location
The hotel is in the Toranomon business quarter of Minato, close to embassies and government buildings and 5–10 minutes on foot from four metro stations, Toranomon Hills being the nearest. Tokyo Station is 15 minutes by car; Haneda Airport is about 40 minutes and Narita International Airport about 70 minutes away by taxi.
Spa
Okura Fitness & Spa occupies the 26th and 27th floors of the Prestige Tower, with a heated indoor pool, seven private treatment rooms, dry and steam saunas, a jacuzzi, a beauty salon and relaxation areas. Body treatments follow Japan’s four seasons with natural ingredients such as sake lees and rice bran, while facials use Orlane and the Japanese Annayake line, based on five natural elements.
Sports & leisure
A 25-metre heated indoor pool with five lanes and a 27th-floor gym with modern equipment and city views; the Okura Museum of Art holds some 2,500 works, and the hotel arranges tea ceremonies and calligraphy sessions in the Chosho-an tea room as well as excursions.
Restaurants & bars
Dining spans Japanese, French and Chinese cuisine:
- Nouvelle Epoque – modern French cooking with Japanese accents
- Yamazato – authentic Japanese cuisine from select local produce, with sushi and kappo counters, beside the Chosho-an tea ceremony room
