Shangri-La Tokyo

About this hotel

General information

Shangri-La Tokyo sits beside Tokyo Station, surrounded by some of the capital’s finest shops and entertainment. Its interiors pair traditional Japanese style with urban modernism, and its walls carry a collection of some 2,000 works by Japanese, Chinese and Western artists. Rooms look towards the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Bay or the Tokyo Skytree.

Chi, The Spa with its private spa suites, a health club with a 20-metre indoor pool, the Italian restaurant Piacere and the Japanese Nadaman high above the city, and a lobby lounge complete the picture. The Shangri-La Ballroom for up to 300 guests and the three Conway Rooms host events, and The Pavilion chapel is used for weddings, with dedicated honeymoon programmes. It suits a business trip and a first encounter with Tokyo equally well.

Location

The hotel stands in Marunouchi, about a minute’s walk from Tokyo Station, where guests can be met on the platform. The Imperial Palace and Ginza are each around 10 minutes away on foot, and Asakusa’s Senso-ji Temple and Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea about 20 minutes by train.

Spa

Chi, The Spa has private spa suites on the 29th floor, most with their own bath and steam room. It draws on the ancient Chinese idea of chi, the universal life force whose free flow is held to sustain health: the menu ranges from Chi massages and treatments from other parts of Asia to facials with Sisley products, hydrotherapy, movement exercises, stretching and meditation, and Kisetsu therapies inspired by Japan’s four seasons.

Sports & leisure

The Health Club, with city views, comprises a 24-hour gym with personal training, a fitness studio, a heated 20-metre indoor pool, a whirlpool and saunas. Bicycles are available to rent, and equipment for business events can be hired.

For children

Babysitting and childcare can be arranged, and strollers and high chairs are available.

Restaurants & bars

Restaurants and the lounge are on the 28th and 29th floors:

  • Piacere – contemporary Italian cooking built on seasonal produce from across Japan, with two wine cellars and views of the Imperial gardens
  • Nadaman – Japanese cuisine with a sushi bar, teppanyaki and traditional kaiseki, plus private dining rooms; the Nadaman name dates back to the early 19th century
  • The Lobby Lounge – afternoon tea, light dishes and evening cocktails with panoramic city views
  • The Boutique – sweets and the hotel’s own signature items
