Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono

About this hotel

General information

Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono is a year-round mountain resort in the Hanazono area of Hokkaido, looking out over the Annupuri range and the near-perfect cone of Mount Yotei. It has two wings: the hotel, with 100 rooms and suites of 65 m² and more, and the residences, with studios, residences and penthouses that have their own kitchens; 169 units in all.

Interiors are contemporary, generous and light, with large living and dining spaces and a carefully chosen art collection throughout. Winter revolves around skiing, with direct access to the slopes, while the warmer months bring golf, river trips and mountain walks. A separate events village holds three event spaces, a show kitchen and a chapel set in the mountain landscape.

Location

The hotel sits on the Hanazono slopes in Kutchan, part of the Niseko resort area in western Hokkaido. New Chitose Airport is about 150 minutes away by car, and the hotel runs its own transfers. Kutchan Station is around 10 minutes by car; by train from Sapporo the journey takes about 110 minutes with a change at Otaru. Otaru is 67 km away, Sapporo 104 km and Shikotsu-Toya National Park 17 km.

Spa

The Spa at Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono has six treatment rooms, two of them couples’ rooms with a private onsen. Guests choose their own oils and scents before each treatment; therapists work with plant-based Sisley Paris products or with ICOR, a natural skincare brand from Niseko, and the menu covers body, facial and foot treatments along with the Signature Experience. The Hanazono Onsen Hot Spring is divided into women’s and men’s areas, each with two hot-spring baths at 40 and 42 °C, a dry sauna and a cold plunge pool; visits are booked in advance.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre on the second floor of the hotel wing is open to guests around the clock. In the warmer months Hanazono Golf, an 18-hole course with views of Mount Yotei, lies next to the resort, and the concierge can arrange rafting on the Shiribetsu River, high ropes courses among the trees, the Hanazono Zipflight zipline, guided or self-guided cycling, private three-hour nature treks with a local guide, half-day river fishing with an instructor and games on the padel court. The sommelier also leads tastings of Hokkaido sake.

For children

In the warmer months children can join cooking classes led by the hotel’s chefs, making dim sum at China Kitchen, pizza at Olivio and ice-cream parfaits at Deli.

Restaurants & bars

Restaurants and bars are spread across both wings and draw on Hokkaido produce:

  • The Lounge – the heart of the hotel lobby, serving international and Hokkaido dishes from breakfast to dinner by the fireplace or at windows facing the Hanazono slopes and Mount Yotei, with afternoon tea featuring Pierre Hermé Paris sweets
  • China Kitchen – Cantonese and Sichuan cooking from an open kitchen, a dim sum brunch at weekends and a private dining room
  • Robata – seafood, local vegetables and Hokkaido wagyu over an open charcoal grill, a long sake list and shabu-shabu on winter evenings
  • Teppan – teppanyaki in Japanese and French styles, with Hokkaido vegetables, wagyu, abalone and desserts made on the griddle, paired with local wine and sake
  • Olivio – Italian cooking with house-made pasta, a summer terrace for barbecues and pizza delivered to the room

  • Sushi Mitsukawa – Kanazawa-style sushi and sashimi with fish from Omicho market, served on Ohi-yaki ceramics
  • Deli – a Pierre Hermé Paris pâtisserie with the signature Hokkaido cheesecake, fresh pastries and bread
  • The Bar & Cigar Lounge – whisky, local craft gins, Hokkaido microbrews and signature cocktails inspired by the seasons, with a separate cigar room

In-room dining is also available.

Swimming

The second floor of the hotel wing has a heated 25-metre indoor pool, open all year, with four jetted tubs alongside and windows onto the Niseko landscape; the changing rooms include a steam sauna.

Skiing

The hotel is ski-in, ski-out, and the ski valet looks after equipment, with a café and a fire pit beside it in winter. The slopes run from Mount Annupuri down to Hanazono, with wide pistes and off-piste terrain. The hotel also offers ski lessons, night skiing, backcountry outings, snowmobiling and guided snowshoeing.

Pets

Dogs are welcome in designated 65 m² pet-friendly rooms: up to two per room, each weighing no more than 6 kg and fully vaccinated, with the stay arranged with the hotel in advance.
