Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo

About this hotel

General information

Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo occupies a glass-clad, 38-storey tower in the heart of the city, near the Imperial Palace and its gardens and the shops and restaurants of Ginza. Rooms are warm in tone, with elegant furniture, carefully chosen objects, work by Japanese artists and wide windows over the capital.

The hotel is known for its dining – from the French cuisine of Signature and the Cantonese of Sense to a sushi counter on the 38th floor – and for a spa with city views. Sixteen event spaces on a dedicated floor include a Grand Ballroom for 500 guests with a 360-degree video wall, and the hotel’s own chapel hosts wedding ceremonies, with dedicated programmes for newlyweds. There is also a business centre, shops, car hire and a limousine service.

Location

The hotel is in central Tokyo by Mitsukoshimae metro station, close to the Imperial Palace and Ginza, and a 12-minute walk from the railway station. Haneda Airport is 40 minutes by car; Narita around an hour and a half.

Spa

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental occupies the 37th floor, with views of the city and distant mountains. It has four treatment rooms and five suites, a Heat & Water area with a vitality pool, water lounges, sauna, Amethyst Crystal steam room with aromatherapy and ice fountain, plus a relaxation area and beauty salon. Eastern and Western techniques – aromatherapy and marma massage, Thai massage, facials, scrubs and wraps – are paired with Mandarin Oriental, Comfort Zone and Aromatherapy Associates products, sold in the spa boutique.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre on the 38th floor has Technogym equipment and city views, with yoga, Pilates and personal training sessions; the vitality pool is in the spa one floor below, and every room has a yoga mat.
