About this hotel
General information
HOSHINOYA Tokyo takes the Japanese ryokan and stacks it into a tower in the business heart of the city, on ground steeped in the city’s Edo past. A facade wrapped in a traditional pattern screens every guest room from the streets, while the interior keeps to the customs of an inn: shoes stay at the entrance, floors are laid with tatami, and guests move about barefoot or in kimono-style loungewear all day.
There are 84 rooms, and each floor works as a small ryokan of its own — six rooms, a tatami corridor and an OCHANOMA Lounge reserved for that floor's guests. Seasonal customs mark the year, a top-floor onsen draws on the hotel's own hot spring, and dinner revisits old Japanese home recipes as a refined tasting menu.
Location
The hotel stands in Otemachi, close to the Imperial Palace: the Marunouchi North Exit of Tokyo Station is about a 10-minute walk away, and Otemachi subway station is right outside. Haneda Airport is 20 minutes by taxi or 40 minutes by train, Narita 60 minutes by taxi or 70 minutes by train; airport transfers can be arranged on request.
Spa
Otemachi Onsen is fed by a natural, salty hot spring rising from about 1,500 m below ground, with a dim, cavernous indoor bath and an open-air bath on the top floor looking up at the Tokyo sky. The spa offers a full-body treatment using compresses of steamed seasonal plants, an hour-long oil massage that follows a soak and stretching, the Deep-breathing Regimen of a warm bath and fermented foods, and the Edo Beauty Stay, built on old Edo traditions of self-care.
