Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi occupies the top six floors of the 39-storey Otemachi One tower in the city’s financial district, right beside the Imperial Palace. Reception, the restaurants, the bar and the spa are gathered on the 39th floor, where tall windows frame the palace gardens, the skyline and, on clear days, Mount Fuji.

There are 190 rooms, 20 of them suites. The interiors play the modern Four Seasons aesthetic against Japanese craftsmanship, alternating calm, almost Zen spaces with bolder, more dramatic rooms. The hotel is best known for its dining, from the French restaurant est to PIGNETO, an Italian restaurant with an open-air terrace high above the city, and for a pool and spa that look out over Tokyo.

Location

The hotel is in the Otemachi One tower in Otemachi, next to the Imperial Palace; its entrance sits beside Exit C4 of Otemachi Station, served by five subway lines, and Tokyo Station is a short walk away. By car it is 2 km to Akihabara, 2.5 km to Ginza, 6.5 km to Shinjuku, 7.5 km to Asakusa, 8.1 km to Tokyo Skytree and 9.3 km to Shibuya. Haneda Airport is 20 km away, 20–40 minutes by car or 45 minutes by train; Narita is 70 km, 55 minutes by car or 80 minutes by train. The concierge arranges private limousine transfers and airport meet-and-greet.

Spa

The Spa, on the 39th floor, has five treatment rooms, one of them for couples. Its signature rituals draw on Japanese traditions and natural ingredients, alongside massages and body treatments, facials with Valmont, Codage and SENSAI products, treatments for men and wellness programmes that combine spa rituals, mindfulness and nutrition. The separate men’s and women’s changing areas each have a steam room and ofuro Japanese baths; treatments, steam rooms and ofuro are for guests aged 16 and over.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour gym looks over the Imperial Palace gardens and the skyline, and in-house trainers lead complimentary wellness sessions for hotel guests. Complimentary bikes come with the concierge’s own routes past the Otemon Gate, the National Museum of Modern Art and ginkgo-lined avenues. The concierge also arranges trips to Mount Fuji and Hakone, guided city tours, workshops in suibokuga ink painting, kintsugi and ikebana, a kodo incense ceremony, a visit to a sumo stable, a tuna auction followed by a sushi-making class, and tickets for teamLab Planets TOKYO.

For children

Children get their own check-in, with a Kids Passport (a photo and stamp scavenger hunt around the hotel, with a prize at the end), colouring sheets and puzzles. Four Seasons Kids Academy introduces children to hotel careers through hands-on activities, including trying on uniforms (by advance reservation, for direct bookings). Suite guests aged 3–5 receive a play tent filled with toys, there is a children’s in-room dining menu, and babysitting can be booked in advance.

Restaurants & bars

The restaurants and bar are all on the 39th floor, looking out over the Imperial Palace and the city; in-room dining runs around the clock.

  • est — contemporary French cuisine built on Japanese, largely local produce, with an open kitchen, 68 seats inside and 10 on a terrace facing the palace gardens
  • PIGNETO — Italian cooking from Sicily and Tuscany, from pizza and antipasti to oven-roasted meat and seafood, with show kitchens, a salumeria, a 105-seat dining room and a 40-seat terrace
  • VIRTÙ — a 60-seat, Art Deco-inspired cocktail bar where contemporary Tokyo meets old Paris, built around aged cognacs, fruit eaux de vie, shochu and whisky
  • THE LOUNGE — light bites and seasonal afternoon tea with views across Tokyo
Swimming

The 20-metre heated indoor pool on the 39th floor has floor-to-ceiling windows over the city, with a vitality pool and mist chairs alongside; light meals and soft drinks are served poolside. Children aged 15 and under may swim from 9:00 to 18:30 with an adult.
