About this hotel
General information
This neoclassical villa on the shore of Lake Garda was built in 1904 in an old park scented with roses and citrus trees. Once it opened as a hotel it quickly became a retreat for Europe’s aristocracy, and for more than a century it has been cared for by the Calderan family, who have kept its period interiors, antique furniture, private collection of paintings and the easy warmth of a family house.
Its 35 rooms look out over the lake or the park. There is a spa, an outdoor pool set in the garden, a tennis court, two Italian restaurants and an American Bar. A reception room seats 80, and weddings can be arranged. Guests also have parking, car hire, laundry and dry cleaning, and a shuttle that runs into the resort centre four times a day.
Location
The villa stands on the shore of Lake Garda in the heart of Gardone Riviera, 89 km from Verona and 177 km from Milan Malpensa international airport.
Spa
The Pevonia wellness centre has a jacuzzi, a steam room and treatment rooms offering hydrotherapy, a range of massages and face and body rituals using natural products.
Sports & leisure
The park holds an outdoor pool and a synthetic-surface tennis court. On the lake there are water sports and outings by motorboat and yacht, while horse riding and mountain biking are available nearby. The hotel also arranges excursions, concerts and evening entertainment.
Restaurants & bars
Dining is shared between two restaurants, a bar and the villa’s terrace:
- Garden Bar & Restaurant — refined cooking and a well-chosen wine list in the garden
- Maximilian — traditional Italian cuisine with a list of Italy’s finest wines recognised by the Michelin guide; candlelit dinners on the lake-view terrace in the evening
- American Bar — aged armagnacs, Cuban cigars and live piano music at night
- The terrace among roses and citrus trees — breakfast buffet, with Italian dishes also served at lunchtime by the pool
Room service is available and the hotel hosts gala dinners.
Swimming
The beaches of Lake Garda are 200 m from the villa, and there is an outdoor pool in the park.
Pets
Pets are not accepted.
