About this hotel
General information
The Carlton is a five-star Rocco Forte hotel at the heart of Milan’s fashion quarter. The building runs between two streets, with entrances on both Via Senato and Via della Spiga, and wraps around a quiet green courtyard. Its interiors pair Milanese design with the ease of a private residence: bespoke furniture, handmade ceramics, a carefully chosen art collection and marble bathrooms.
There are 71 rooms and suites. Dinner is served at Spiga, breakfast and lunch beneath the glass dome of Café Floretta, and aperitivo at The Carlton Bar, which opens onto The Carlton Garden. The Irene Forte Spa has a thermal area, and the gym is open around the clock. A private Boardroom seats up to ten for meetings or dinners.
Location
The hotel sits in the Quadrilatero della Moda, between Via Senato and Via della Spiga, a few minutes from La Scala and the Duomo. The fashion quarter’s boutiques begin at the door, and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Brera and the Castello Sforzesco are all close by.
Spa
The Irene Forte Spa is finished in terracotta tones, honey-coloured wood and softly curved walls. It has three treatment rooms, a thermal area with sauna, steam room, ice fountain and experience showers, a relaxation room with vibrating sound beds, a nail salon and the Forte Vita Bar for express facials and hair services. The menu covers facials, body treatments, massages and longer rituals using Irene Forte Skincare, made with natural ingredients grown on the brand’s organic farm in Sicily.
Sports & leisure
The Technogym-equipped gym is open 24 hours. The hotel arranges Italian wine tastings with its head sommelier, cocktail masterclasses, cooking classes with the executive chef, a walking tour of the historic centre, a shopping tour with a personal shopper, a route through vintage archive boutiques and ateliers, a private tour of La Scala, visits to the Duomo terraces, the Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Pinacoteca di Brera. Further afield there are private boat trips on Lake Como and days in the Langhe for truffle hunting and Barolo tasting.
For children
The Rocco Forte Kids programme is tailored to babies (0–3), children (4–12) and teens (13–16): a kids’ passport and welcome treats at check-in, a teddy turndown service, books, games and consoles on request, and a children’s menu in the restaurant and through in-room dining. Bespoke city programmes can be arranged for children and teenagers, older children have their own spa treatments, and 24-hour babysitting is available on request. The hotel’s mascot is a puppy called Ambrogio.
Restaurants & bars
Three venues take the day from breakfast under a glass dome to cocktails in the open air.
- Spiga — Italian fine dining that reworks Milanese classics, in a room of cognac-coloured leather panelling and candlelight, with silver trolley service and its own entrance on Via della Spiga
- Café Floretta — breakfast and lunch beneath a glass dome among greenery and velvet banquettes; in the evening it hosts private celebrations
- The Carlton Bar — cocktails, aperitivo and small plates to share, in a marble-and-velvet room and out under the trees of The Carlton Garden
