Splendido Mare, A Belmond Hotel is a small, 16-room hotel in the heart of Portofino, beside the picturesque harbour and the lively Piazzetta. Rooms are finely decorated, and the entire top floor is given over to a single suite with a terrace above the bay. The gastronomic restaurant has long been a haunt of celebrities, and the bar has live music until midnight.
This is a place to live at the pace of one of Italy’s best-known resorts. The pool, spa and tennis court are shared with Belmond Hotel Splendido on the hill above, linked by a free shuttle. There is also a concierge, business services, parking, laundry and dry cleaning, and the hotel arranges weddings and honeymoon programmes.
Location
The hotel is in the centre of Portofino by the harbour, 5 km from Santa Margherita Ligure railway station, 8 km from Rapallo station and 37 km from Genoa international airport.

Sports & leisure
Up the hill at Belmond Hotel Splendido guests have a panoramic outdoor pool, a fitness centre and a tennis court. The hotel arranges water sports, diving, fishing and boat trips – including on its own Chris-Craft Corsair 36 motorboat – as well as bike rides, cookery courses and excursions. Two golf clubs are nearby.
Restaurants & bars
Chuflay, the restaurant, has an open terrace overlooking Portofino’s main square and harbour; James Cameron and Rod Stewart are among those who have dined here. The Chuflay bar serves drinks and light bites, with live music in the evenings, and in-room dining is available.

Junior Suite Sea View and Balcony
Views over the Piazzetta and the harbour, mid-century furniture, a sitting area and a king-size or twin beds; most have a balcony or terrace. The large marble bathroom has a bath and a separate walk-in shower.
Junior Suite Village View
Amber and sea-green tones facing the village, with hardwood floors, mid-century furniture and a king-size or twin beds; some have a balcony. The marble bathroom has a bath and a separate walk-in shower.
Suite Sea View and Balcony
A private balcony or terrace looking across the harbour to Castello Brown, a living area with hardwood floors, a king-size or twin beds and a marble bathroom.
Ava Gardner Suite
The whole top floor: a king-size bedroom, a living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a windowed marble bathroom with separate shower and double basin, and a large terrace with lemon trees looking over the harbour, the bay and Castello Brown.
