General information
Villa Igiea was built in 1908, at the height of Palermo’s artistic flowering, at the foot of Monte Pellegrino with its façade facing the Gulf of Palermo. It has changed little since and is now listed among Sicily’s historic monuments. Pale stone, towers, grand staircases edged with exotic flowerbeds and a Mediterranean park set with marble statues and fountains make it one of the most admired hotels in Europe.
Inside are marble, dark wood and gilding, frescoed walls, halls in gold and deep red, and antique furniture. A business centre and conference rooms sit alongside, with a ballroom and open terraces for celebrations; weddings are arranged. There is also a restaurant, a bar, a seawater pool and a tennis court. The villa makes a good base for Palermo’s lively markets, its palaces and ancient sites, or a yacht trip along the coast.
Location
The hotel is on Sicily’s north-west coast in Palermo, 4 km from the city centre and 25 minutes by car from the airport.

There is an outdoor seawater pool, a tennis court and a modern fitness centre. The hotel organises excursions and entertainment, and the villa’s terraced gardens are made for walking.
