General information
The story of Palace Merano begins at the turn of the 20th century, when entrepreneur Peter Delugan bought an estate with a small castle dating from 1285, a historic park, glasshouse, kitchen garden, vineyard and botanical garden. The spot had been a favourite of European aristocracy since the late 19th century, and in 1906 a hotel opened here in the neoclassical manner of Riviera villas, its interiors rich in crystal, marble, fine furniture, lavish fabrics and original art.
Palace Merano keeps that aristocratic air while adding modern comfort: indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness centre, restaurants and lounges, a conference centre, hair salon, pharmacy, concierge and limousine service. Its defining feature is the medical spa, where advanced equipment, specialists, diets and treatments focus on health, rejuvenation and inner balance.
Location
The hotel is in Merano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy: 33 km (about 30 minutes) from Bolzano airport, 180 km (about 2 hours) from Verona and 290 km (about 3 hours) from Venice airport.
Spa
The spa has heated indoor and outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, a Kneipp bath, and steam rooms and saunas at a range of temperatures and humidities. It is organised into departments: wellness (fitness, Pilates, Kinesis), hydrotherapy (hydromassage, mud and phytotherapy), nutrition (diets and healthy-cooking courses), aesthetic medicine and cosmetology (face and body treatments), and medical diagnostics with oxygen therapy, cellular resonance therapy and detox programmes.
Sports & leisure
There is an outdoor pool on site, with aqua aerobics, Pilates, Nordic walking, cycling with bicycle hire, excursions, cookery classes and talks on health and wellness.

Children are welcome from the age of 8.

The 100 rooms, including 29 suites, recreate the feel of a grand family home, with graceful furniture, fine fabrics and artworks. Windows face the park or the Merano landscape, and most rooms have a balcony or terrace.
