Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa

About this hotel

General information

Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa crowns a steep headland above the turquoise Bay of San Montano on Ischia, wrapped in seven hectares of old parkland, pines and centuries-old oaks, close to the villa of the film director Luchino Visconti. At its heart is a 16th-century tower, built as a fortress against Saracen raiders and later owned by Baron Fassini. The hotel keeps that romance of the past while offering present-day comfort and polish, and its rooms look out over the sea or the park.

Alongside the thermal spa there are two restaurants, several bars, a large outdoor seawater pool, a beach with a water-sports centre, a tennis court, two private jetties and a helipad. Concierge, limousine service, parking, laundry and a shuttle to the centre of Lacco Ameno are provided. Mezzatorre is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Virtuoso.

Location

The hotel lies on the north-west coast of Ischia, on the Bay of San Montano in the municipality of Forio, a short distance from the centre of Lacco Ameno.

Spa

The Health & Beauty Centre has three indoor therapy pools — thermal, thalassotherapy and a Kneipp foot pool — along with a hammam with therapeutic showers, a sauna, a fitness centre and a relaxation area. Indoor and outdoor treatment pavilions offer massages, baths, thermal treatments and balneotherapy, physiotherapy, aesthetic medicine, face and body care and a range of wellness programmes.

Sports & leisure

The grounds hold a heated outdoor seawater pool, a tennis court and jogging paths through the park. Water sports, diving, boat trips, excursions and evenings of music and entertainment are arranged, and water-sports and tennis equipment, boats and motorboats can be hired.

Restaurants & bars

Two restaurants, a handful of bars and a breakfast terrace are spread across the headland and park, and dietary menus are available.

  • Chandelier — gastronomic restaurant beside the tower, lit by chandeliers, with Mediterranean cooking, fine wines and an open terrace above the sea
  • Sciuè Sciuè — under a palm-leaf roof, overlooking the sea and pool, serving dishes from Naples and Campania
  • Pool bar — cold drinks and cocktails
  • Clifftop terrace — generous breakfast buffets
  • Gazebo Lounge and Piano Bar — relaxed evenings with live music
Swimming

The hotel sits above a rocky shore, with its two private jetties giving access to the sea.

Pets

Small pets are welcome on request.
