General information
Built in 1904, Santa Caterina sits on a hillside above the Amalfi Coast in the shade of lemon and orange trees. Two lifts run down from the main building to the Beach Club by the sea, with its large pool, fitness centre, restaurant and bar. The interiors stay true to the house style, with pale walls, multicoloured tiled floors and early 20th-century antiques.
The cooking at the hotel’s two restaurants has travelled well beyond Italy: their recipes have been served more than once at the Plaza in New York. There is also a spa with a wide choice of face and body treatments, a conference centre with two rooms of 72 and 21 m², a souvenir shop, laundry and dry cleaning, and secure parking.
Location
The hotel lies on Italy’s south-west coast, 25 km from Salerno railway station, 70 km from Naples railway station, 80 km from Naples international airport and 280 km from Rome Fiumicino airport.
Spa
The spa offers aromatic massage, four-hand massage, classic full-body massage, the signature Amalfi Gold lemon massage and a warm milk and honey body treatment, alongside a range of beauty treatments. There is also a sauna, a Turkish bath and a Scottish shower.

The hotel’s two restaurants and bar are known for recipes that have more than once been prepared at the Plaza in New York:
- Santa Caterina — traditional and original dishes in an elegant room with marble floors inlaid with lapis lazuli and a spacious terrace
- Al Mare — summer-only, at Beach Club level overlooking the pool, serving grilled fish and pizza from a traditional oven
- Bar La Terrazza — a wide choice of drinks, including house-made lemon liqueurs, and light snacks
Swimming
The hotel’s Beach Club on the shore has sun loungers, parasols and a large pool.
Rooms
Rooms are spread across the main building, the cottages and Villa Santa Caterina, ranging from Partial Sea View rooms to two Special Suites. Every one has a balcony or terrace and colourful Vietri tiled floors, and some are furnished with early 20th-century antiques.
Each room has air conditioning, satellite TV, a telephone, internet access, a minibar and a safe.
Partial Sea View Room
A room with a queen-size or twin beds, a floor of multicoloured Vietri tiles, a bathroom and a balcony with a side view of the sea.
Executive Partial Sea View Room
Larger than the Partial Sea View rooms, with a king-size or twin beds, a bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower, and a balcony with a side view of the sea.
Front Sea View Room
A room in a quieter part of the hotel with a queen-size or twin beds, a bathroom with a bathtub and a balcony facing the sea.
Deluxe Room
Furnished with early 20th-century antiques and tiled floors, with a king-size or twin beds, a bathroom and a balcony facing the sea.
Junior Suite
A spacious suite with antique furniture, a bedroom with a king-size or twin beds and a sitting area, a bathroom with jacuzzi and a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea and the Amalfi Coast.
