General information
Built in 1870 as an Italian palazzo, the Majestic sits on the shore of Lake Maggiore among emerald lawns and an English-style park. In 1930 it was named one of the most beautiful hotel buildings in Europe, and over the years it has welcomed Claude Debussy, Arturo Toscanini and the actress Eleonora Duse. Inside, the mood is classic old-Europe elegance: high ceilings, parquet floors, stucco and crystal chandeliers.
The hotel has its own lakeside promenade and beach, a heated indoor pool, a Roman-style spa and several restaurants and bars inside and in the garden. Four meeting rooms, three with daylight, hold up to 300 guests, and weddings are also arranged. Parking, a limousine service and private boat hire are available. The hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Location
The hotel is in northern Italy, on the shore of Lake Maggiore in the resort town of Pallanza, 90 km from Milan’s international airport.
Spa
The contemporary Roman-style spa brings together the Wellness Centre for beauty, a fitness centre with gym, saunas and a panoramic sun terrace. Treatments include aromatherapy, a range of massages, revitalising, detox and relaxation courses and anti-stress programmes, some designed for men, using active marine ingredients and Dead Sea oils and minerals.
Sports & leisure
A heated indoor pool fills the spa’s marble hall. There are tennis courts, and the hotel’s private boat takes guests on excursions around the lake and out to the islands; boats can also be hired.

The 90 rooms are decorated in classic style and warm tones, with high ceilings, parquet floors, richly coloured rugs, stucco, draped curtains, crystal chandeliers and graceful furniture. Many have a balcony overlooking the lake, and some can be connected.
Each room has air conditioning, a direct-dial telephone, a hairdryer, Wi-Fi, a minibar, a safe and satellite TV.
