General information
Grand Hotel et de Milan opened in 1863 and still has the air of an old aristocratic Milanese residence. Giuseppe Verdi stayed here for many years, and figures from culture, music, the stage and business have followed ever since. Three generations of the Bertazzoni family have worked to keep that spirit intact.
Set in the centre of Milan, a short walk from the business district, La Scala and the fashion quarter’s Golden Triangle, the hotel is known above all for its restaurants. Three meeting rooms with historic interiors — Verdi, Puccini and Giordano — host business meetings, banquets and exhibitions, and the team plans weddings.
Location
The hotel is in central Milan, 7 km from Linate airport and 45 km from Malpensa airport.
Sports & leisure
The gym sits on a leafy third-floor terrace enclosed by panoramic windows overlooking the inner courtyard. A personal trainer, massage therapist and private yoga sessions are available on request. The central address puts sightseeing, culture and shopping within easy reach.
Restaurants & bars
Dining is one of the hotel’s great strengths.
- Caruso — traditional Milanese cooking in a winter garden, in a room reminiscent of a Parisian bistro that also serves as bar and breakfast room and hosts private parties
- Don Carlos — fine Italian cuisine and a deep wine list among paintings, sketches and set designs from the La Scala museum, lit by silver candelabra; dinner is served outdoors in warm weather
- Gerry’s Bar — a lounge with its own cocktail bar for aperitivo, lunch or dinner, open late into the night

Dogs are welcome in a number of the suites.
Rooms
The 95 rooms, from the Classic Room to the Verdi Suite, keep their parquet floors, period furniture and marble bathrooms. Twelve Signature Suites honour famous past guests such as Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas and Luchino Visconti.

Period furniture, a bedroom with a queen- or king-size bed, sitting area and marble bathroom, overlooking the city or the courtyard; some connect to a Junior Suite.

A bedroom with a queen-size bed or twin beds, sitting area, marble bathroom and antique furniture, facing the city or courtyard; some connect to a Junior Suite.
Deluxe Room
A bedroom with a queen-size, king-size or twin beds, sitting area and marble bathroom, furnished with antiques and works of art.
Premium Room
A roomy bedroom with a king-size or twin beds, a sitting corner, restored antique furniture, polished parquet and generous wardrobes; sleeps up to three.
Junior Suite
A bright room with a king-size or twin bedroom, living area and marble bathroom; some connect to a Classic Room, Superior Room or Executive Suite.
Executive Suite
A spacious room with a king-size or twin beds, an open seating area and a marble bathroom, overlooking the quiet inner courtyard or the shopping streets; it connects to a Junior Suite.
Superior Suite
A bright suite with a separate living room, a king-size or twin bedroom and a marble bathroom, furnished with antiques and art, facing the city or courtyard.
Terrace Suite
A suite on the high-ceilinged noble floor with a separate sitting room, king-size or twin beds and a marble bathroom with shower, plus a large terrace with shrubs and vines above the inner courtyard.
Deluxe Suite
A king-size or twin bedroom, living room and marble bathroom among antiques and artworks, with city views.
Verdi Suite
The presidential suite where Verdi first stayed in 1872, composed some of his works and spent his final days: a king-size bedroom, a bright living room with its historic furnishings fully preserved, and two marble bathrooms.
