About this hotel
General information
Set among the lush Casanova Gardens on the island of Giudecca, the hotel was founded in 1958 by Giuseppe Cipriani, creator of the celebrated Harry’s Bar. It was conceived for wealthy travellers and famous names, and guests have included Sophia Loren, Catherine Deneuve, Clint Eastwood, Yves Saint Laurent, Paul McCartney and Princess Diana. Today the Cipriani is as much a Venetian landmark as a hotel.
It spreads across three historic buildings, one of them a 15th-century palazzo, with interiors of marble and fine woods, frescoes, antique furniture, Murano glass chandeliers and old master paintings. There is the Michelin-starred Oro, a large saltwater pool, a wellness centre, a tennis court and a boutique, along with the Longhi and Tiziano halls for 220 and 120 guests and outdoor event spaces. Weddings and honeymoons are arranged, and a concierge, butlers, laundry, business services and Wi-Fi are available.
Location
The hotel is on Giudecca, five minutes by boat from Piazza San Marco, with a free round-the-clock shuttle from its private landing stage to the square. Santa Lucia station is about 20 minutes away by water taxi, and Marco Polo international airport (16 km) roughly half an hour.
Spa
The Casanova wellness centre sits in the garden, with a sauna, hammam, beauty salon, relaxation area and six treatment rooms, one of them a couples’ suite. Treatments range from Thai and Swedish massage to rituals using natural products by the Italian brand HöbePergh and the signature Bellini ritual.
Sports & leisure
The Olympic-size heated outdoor pool is filled with filtered seawater and framed by a terrace with sun loungers and cabanas. There is a gym with Technogym equipment and personal training, a hard tennis court, and excursions around Venice and the lagoon, including aboard the private yacht Edipo Re.
For children
In summer the Smile club welcomes children aged 4–12.
Restaurants & bars
Dining leans on Venetian tradition, from fine dining to seafood at the water’s edge, with room service and private dining on request.

Rooms
The 79 rooms and suites are decorated in Venetian style, with carved and inlaid antique furniture, sumptuous fabrics, Murano glass mirrors and lamps and original artworks. Balconies and terraces look over the Casanova Gardens, the lagoon and Piazza San Marco.
Rooms have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, a safe, a minibar, and a bathroom with a bathtub and/or shower, a hairdryer and toiletries.

St Mark’s View Suite

San Giorgio Suite
