The Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin

About this hotel

General information

The Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin is a five-star boutique hotel facing St Stephen’s Green, right where Grafton Street begins. Its interiors pair a contemporary restraint with warm textures, soft tones and made-to-measure furnishings; the rooms use natural materials, Art Deco touches and nods to 1930s ocean liners, and no two are alike. Many windows and balconies look across the park, the rest onto a quiet courtyard garden.

There are 138 rooms, from the compact Garden rooms to the Design Suite and a top-floor penthouse with a baby grand piano and a round-the-clock butler. Glovers Alley offers fine dining and The Lounge serves as bar and restaurant, while an attentive concierge team is one of the things the hotel prides itself on. The Fitzwilliam is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Location

The hotel stands on St Stephen’s Green in the very centre of Dublin, at the top of Grafton Street, the city’s main shopping street. A Luas tram stop is right outside, two minutes from Trinity College and the Book of Kells, and Temple Bar, theatres, museums and galleries are all within an easy stroll. Dublin Airport is about 30 minutes away by taxi, and the concierge team arranges private transfers with a car and driver. Guests have use of a secure underground car park, entered from the back of the building.

Sports & leisure

St Stephen’s Green, just across the road, is the obvious place for a walk or an early run. The hotel has recorded audio walking tours for its guests: a half-hour route through the historic centre that starts in the park, and a fashion route through the shops and local designers. The concierges advise on galleries, theatres and restaurants and arrange chauffeured outings.

Restaurants & bars

Eating and drinking centre on three rooms.

  • Glovers Alley — fine dining, with tasting menus of contemporary cooking built on Irish produce
  • The Lounge — an intimate bar and restaurant serving all-day dishes from midday into the evening, signature cocktails, whiskey from a sizeable collection and its own Bloody Mary menu, plus a pre-theatre menu
  • The Gallery — breakfast, both à la carte and buffet, in the morning, and a private dining room for evening gatherings
