About this hotel
General information
The Sira is a Luxury Collection resort on the quiet northern coast of Lombok, set along more than 500 metres of white-sand beach. The grounds look out to Mount Rinjani and, on clear days, to Bali's Mount Agung across the water, with the Gili Islands just offshore. Suites and villas are finished in natural textures, warm woods and soft coastal tones, and the resort is pitched at travellers curious about Sasak traditions, South Sea pearls and the island's own cacao.
Life here centres on a 70-metre infinity pool by the sea, joined by a beachfront spa, three restaurants and a bar, a watersports centre and a programme of land and ocean outings, from villages and waterfalls in the Rinjani foothills to the reefs around the Gilis. Arrivals are greeted with a botanical drink made from local ingredients, the concierge works around the clock, and the beach, the Beach House and the Presidential Suite host weddings and private celebrations.
Location
The resort sits on Sira Beach, on the Sira Peninsula near Tanjung in north-west Lombok, a short hop from the three Gili Islands. Lombok International Airport is about 65 km away. The Sira Beach Golf Club, with views of the sea and Mount Rinjani, is close by.
Spa
The Spa sits on the beach and works with island ingredients such as coconut oils and mineral-rich volcanic essences, its stone-and-wood interiors echoing the landscape outside. The menu covers massages, including treatments for couples, body scrubs, facials, foot baths, scalp and hair rituals, manicures and pedicures. Facilities include a steam room, separate men's and women's lounges and changing rooms, an open-air treatment gazebo and the Vitality Pool. Signature sessions include blending a personal scent from local essences and a morning trip to Gangga Waterfall for guided meditation, sound therapy and breakfast.
Sports & leisure
Some activities come included with the stay: yoga, rides in a traditional horse-drawn cidomo, bicycles, kayaks and pedal boats. At extra cost, the resort offers:
- a beachfront watersports centre with paddleboarding, snorkelling, jet skis, surfing and guided sea outings
- diving with instructors, from first introductory dives to advanced trips
- a day by boat between the Gili Islands, snorkelling over coral gardens, with drinks on board and lunch
- horse riding along the beach
- a visit to a pearl farm, where guests can harvest a pearl themselves and have it set at a jewellery workshop
- treks to waterfalls in the Rinjani foothills and in central Lombok, and a visit to a traditional Sasak village of bamboo houses
- a jungle walk with the local community, covering tropical fruit, healing plants and palm-sugar making, with lunch in the forest
- workshops in chocolate made from local cacao and Lombok vanilla, the island's old wood-fire cooking, and a tasting of stingless Trigona bee honey
- village cycling routes and walks through the rice fields of north Lombok
The complimentary fitness centre has cardio machines, free weights, strength equipment and rowing machines.
For children
Young guests have the complimentary Turtle Club kids' club with children's activities, and the main infinity pool has a dedicated children's section.
Restaurants & bars
The resort has three restaurants and an evening bar, with in-room dining around the clock:
- The Island's Table — Indonesian home cooking from time-honoured recipes and local produce, served to share; breakfast and dinner
- SIJA — contemporary Asian cooking with bold spices and fresh herbs, designed for sharing
- Medsa — Mediterranean dining with light coastal flavours, for lunch and dinner
- Glassary — an evening bar for cocktails made with local spirits, a wine list and tapas
The resort also hosts dining evenings inspired by Sasak culture, with ceremonial gendang beleq drumming and sweet tuak manis palm nectar.
Swimming
In front of the resort lie more than 500 metres of white sand on the calm Lombok Strait, with kayaks, boards and snorkelling straight off the beach. The 70-metre infinity pool is open daily from 7am to 6pm and includes a children's section; the Vitality Pool sits alongside, and towels are provided. The villas and the Presidential Suite have private pools, and the Lombok Suites open from their terraces onto the pool.
