About this hotel
General information
The Lombok Lodge is a small, family-run boutique hotel on Medana Bay, on the quiet north-west coast of Lombok. There are just nine suites, every one facing the sea, done in coconut white and soft grey with clean contemporary lines, floor-to-ceiling glass and open-air showers. The intimate scale sets the mood: calm, personal service and the feel of a private house by the water.
Breakfast and dinner are part of every stay — breakfast is served à la carte at any hour and anywhere on the property — and afternoon refreshments come round at the pool. The hotel is known for its cooking built on local produce, dinners on the over-water jetty and a fine eye for detail, from Schott Zwiesel glassware to Acqua di Parma toiletries. Housekeeping comes twice a day, mountain bikes and the gym are free to use, and a daily boat runs to the group's own beach club on Gili Meno.
Location
The hotel sits on Medana Bay near Tanjung, on Lombok's tranquil north-west coast, looking out to sea and towards Mount Rinjani. The Gili Islands are about 15 minutes away by boat, Bangsal harbour roughly 15 minutes by car and Senggigi about 30 minutes; the drive from Lombok International Airport takes 70–90 minutes. The hotel arranges private car transfers from the airport and the harbour, flights and fast boats from Bali, and a helicopter transfer from Bali of about 30 minutes.
Spa
The Lodge Frangipani Spa offers Asian-inspired body and facial treatments: traditional Balinese and aromatherapy massages, body wraps, the Rinjani Hot Stone ritual, aloe vera and Ayurveda treatments, Sisley facials, O.P.I manicures and pedicures and an evening frangipani flower bath. Therapists work with natural, locally sourced oils. An open-air pavilion by the sea hosts private yoga sessions with an instructor, including over the water.
Sports & leisure
The gym is equipped with LifeFitness machines, every suite has yoga mats and mountain bikes are complimentary. Everything else the hotel arranges on request:
- a PADI dive centre at the hotel — try dives, courses and dive safaris
- snorkelling from the over-water jetty to a coral reef some 200 metres offshore, and turtle snorkelling around the Gili Islands
- water sports including jet skis, boat trips around the Gilis, sunset cruises and traditional fishing with local fishermen
- Vespa rides across Lombok — coastal roads, waterfalls and Sasak villages, with picnics and South Sea pearl visits
- culture tours, pottery and weaving visits, and Indonesian cooking classes in the hotel's organic gardens
- Mount Rinjani hikes and helicopter flights over the volcano from the hotel's own helipad in the rice fields
- baby turtle releases with local volunteers on Gili Meno, beach horse rides and photo shoots against the island scenery
The Lombok Kosaido Golf Club is about 15 minutes away.
For children
Babysitting is available on request. Children can join baby turtle releases and a beekeeper-for-a-day outing that introduces them to the world of bees.
Restaurants & bars
The cooking rests on fresh local produce and blends international and Asian flavours; vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal and kosher dishes are prepared on request.
- Flavors — the main dinner restaurant, a handful of tables above the pool and beach, with set menus, à la carte and rotating tasting menus such as Italian, the Indonesian Rasa Indonesia and a Lombok lobster menu
- L'Osteria — a relaxed seaside lunch spot: contemporary Italian cooking, wood-fired pizza, salads and tapas
- La Terrazza — the breakfast terrace overlooking Medana Bay
- private dining — on the over-water jetty, at a seaside table by a beach fireplace, in the boathouse, as a barbecue on a secluded beach, or as an Indonesian rijsttafel feast
The wine list is extensive, and a smart casual dress code applies at dinner.
Swimming
In front of the hotel is a natural, rugged shoreline with calm water for swimming; guests can swim and snorkel straight off the over-water jetty over the reef, and sea turtles sometimes appear close to shore. On the grounds is a 25-metre infinity pool overlooking the sea. For white sand, a daily boat takes guests to Gili Meno and the Bagno di Gili beach club, with gazebos for two, sunbeds, snorkelling gear and kayaks beside one of the island's best reefs.
Rooms
The hotel has nine sea-view suites: one-bedroom suites, two of them opening straight onto the pool, a single two-bedroom and a single three-bedroom family suite on the upper floor of the main lodge, and the garden-view Panoramic Lodge.
