About this hotel
General information
Hotel Majapahit is a historic hotel of 1910 in the heart of Surabaya, part of the MGallery collection and listed as a national heritage landmark. The building keeps its original colonial-era architecture in an Art Nouveau spirit, while its restaurants, lobby and function rooms, with their antique terrazzo floors, are dressed in Art Deco. The grounds cover almost two hectares, with spacious gardens and a courtyard overlooked by a wrap-around balcony.
There are 139 rooms and suites, the Indigo restaurant facing Jalan Tunjungan, a lobby lounge known for its afternoon tea and a late-night pub with live music. A daily guided tour leads through the historic rooms and tucked-away courtyards to a small gallery and ends with high tea. Meeting and event rooms take from 20 to 600 guests, and the gardens and courtyard host weddings.
Location
The hotel stands at Jalan Tunjungan 65 in the centre of Surabaya, East Java: Tunjungan Plaza is 350 m away, about five minutes on foot, with City Hall, the business district and the main convention venues close by. Pasar Turi railway station is 2.4 km, roughly a 10-minute drive, and Grand City Mall 1.5 km; the hotel arranges taxis, private transfers and an on-call shuttle, and has covered parking for guests.
Spa
Majapahit Spa offers treatments drawn from long-standing local traditions, aimed at deep rest and renewal. The health club adds a whirlpool bath, a steam room and a sauna.
Sports & leisure
Guests have a modern gym with an aerobics area, an outdoor pool set in the gardens, a whirlpool bath, a steam room and a sauna. Every day, by reservation, a heritage tour takes in the architecture, the old rooms and hidden courtyards and a mini gallery of locally made crafts, finishing with the hotel's signature high tea. Close by are the shopping streets of the centre, the Suramadu Bridge (the longest in Indonesia) and a golf club 18 km away.
