General information
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan is tucked into the valley of the fast-flowing Ayung River, among jungle, rice fields and lotus ponds, a short way from Ubud, the island’s cultural heart. Villas and suites in Indonesian style are finished in teak, with handmade furniture, rugs and work by local artisans, and terraces look out over tropical gardens and the river.
The resort is also a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. On site are a two-level pool, a spa with three spa villas, a wellness centre and a kids’ club; beyond lie rafting, kayaking, cycling routes and three golf courses. There is a 54 m² meeting room, a business centre, a gift shop, a beauty salon and hairdresser, laundry and dry cleaning, parking and car hire. Weddings and honeymoon programmes can be arranged.
Location
The resort lies in central Bali, in Sayan on the banks of the Ayung River, 15 minutes by car from Ubud and about an hour from the international airport in Denpasar.
Spa
The spa comprises a pavilion with a Jacuzzi, hydro-massage and outdoor showers, three spa villas, a beauty salon and treatment rooms. The menu covers many styles of massage, Ayurvedic and spa treatments and programmes based on Indonesian tradition, using local mountain herbs, healing mud and spices.
Sports & leisure
The outdoor pool is set on two levels. The wellness centre has a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, gym and yoga studio. Rafting, kayaking, cycling (bikes are available to hire), cooking classes and excursions are offered, and three golf courses lie nearby.
For children
Pici Pici Club, for ages 5–12, runs sports, games and workshops. Young guests receive a welcome gift, rooms have children’s robes and toiletries, restaurants offer a children’s menu, and babysitting can be arranged on request.
Restaurants & bars
Ayung Terrace, with an open terrace above the river, serves modern Asian and Indonesian dishes. Riverside Cafe, down by the water, offers light bites and freshly baked pizza, and Jati bar serves snacks, afternoon tea with pastries and tropical cocktails. Room service is available.
Rooms
There are 60 units: 18 suites and 42 freestanding villas. Interiors feature teak, handmade furniture, rugs and pieces by local craftsmen, and terraces overlook tropical gardens and the river.
Rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, a telephone, internet access, a CD/DVD player, a safe, a minibar, a bathroom with bathtub and shower, a hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers.

A riverside villa with a living and dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two outdoor showers and a terrace with a private pool. Sleeps six adults, or four adults and two children.
River View Two Bedroom Villa
A villa with two bedrooms, each with dressing room, bathroom and outdoor shower, and a spacious terrace with living and dining areas, loungers and a pool. Sleeps six adults, or four adults and two children.
Royal Villa
A two-level villa by the river with a living and dining room, a kitchen, three en-suite bedrooms, a terrace with a lotus pond and a garden terrace with a private pool and an Indonesian-style living pavilion. Sleeps nine adults, or six adults and three children.
