Ayana Bali Resort

About this hotel

General information

Ayana Bali Resort steps down a green clifftop to a sandy beach above Jimbaran Bay, one of four hotels within the 90-hectare Ayana estate. Architecture and interiors take their cue from Balinese tradition — fine woodcarving in the rooms, authentic local cooking in the restaurants — and the bay and its ocean sunsets are in view from almost everywhere.

The scale of the estate means every day can look different: 14 pools, a spa on the rocks, a golf course, the SAKA museum of Balinese culture, an organic farm, kids’ clubs and more than twenty restaurants and bars, among them Rock Bar at the top of the cliff. There are also function rooms, including a Grand Ballroom for up to 2,300 guests, a business centre, a shopping arcade and a jetty; weddings are held in pavilions, in the Champa garden and on the Sky terrace lawn with its sweeping ocean view.

Location

The resort is part of the Ayana estate, beside the private Kubu beach and a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Jimbaran. Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar is 12 km away, about 30 minutes by car.

Spa

The 2.2-hectare spa complex has three parts: a spa village of treatment pavilions, a large heated seawater thalassotherapy pool, and Spa on the Rocks, two pavilions perched on a rock above the ocean. The menu runs to more than 40 treatments and rituals based on Balinese tradition and local natural products, alongside thalassotherapy programmes.

Sports & leisure

Of the estate’s 14 outdoor pools, Ayana Bali Resort itself has a two-level freshwater pool with ocean views, a waterfall pool and a children’s pool with slides; others are spread across gardens, villas and the sister hotels, and the thalassotherapy pool has 12 hydro-massage stations and a cold plunge. Guests have three 24-hour gyms, two tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, jogging paths, a 2-hectare organic garden, yoga, Pilates, meditation, qigong and Muay Thai, cooking and craft classes, evening shows and excursions. Tennis and golf equipment can be hired.

For children

There are children’s pools and several clubs: Guidepost Montessori for ages 3–6, Green Camp for ages 7–12, the 1,320 m² Ocean Adventure with indoor and outdoor play areas for children from four, and the 1,600 m² Jungle Adventure at sister hotel Rimba. Each runs entertaining, educational and creative activities, and babysitting can be arranged on request.

Restaurants & bars

The estate offers one of the widest choices of dining on Bali:

  • KISIK Seafood & Grill — Balinese-style grilled seafood and cocktails with ocean views
  • Rock Bar — cocktails, tapas and DJ sets on a round terrace at the top of the cliff
  • Padi and Damar Terrace — Asian and Indonesian cooking on terraces among lotus ponds
  • Honzen — Japanese fine dining with carefully sourced local produce
  • Sumizen — Japanese yakiniku grill
  • Sami Sami — Italian trattoria with ocean views, with the Sunset bar next door
  • Kampoeng Bali — Balinese food and traditional dance performances

  • Karang — Indonesian cooking by the pool
  • Kubu Beach Club — a cocktail bar inspired by 1960s Bali
  • Luna, Forest and After Rock — a rooftop pool bar, a garden bar and a nightclub

The Orchid conservatory serves tea and pastries, and there is also the I.C.E & All things nice ice-cream parlour, a Spa Cafe with a healthy menu, a coffee shop at the SAKA museum, pool bars and room service.
