General information
Amankila sits on a hillside among tropical gardens above the Lombok Strait, close to a white-sand beach. Its architecture echoes the legendary Karangasem palace, whose ruins lie nearby: pavilions in Indonesian style, under traditional roofs, are linked by stairways and paths and tucked into thick greenery.
High ceilings, teak and rare stone, work by local craftsmen and broad terraces over the gardens and sea set the tone inside. The grounds hold a three-tiered pool, a beach club with its own pool, a water sports centre and a spa. There is a gallery shop, laundry and dry cleaning, parking, and — a 15-minute drive away on a hilltop — the Tirta Sari picnic pavilion. Honeymoon programmes are available.
Location
The resort lies on Bali’s east coast, at Manggis on the Lombok Strait, about an hour and a half by car from the international airport in Denpasar.
Spa
Massage in a range of techniques and spa treatments take place in a dedicated massage pavilion, at the beach club or in the guest’s own room.
Sports & leisure
The three-tiered pool is the resort’s signature. The water sports centre offers windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and diving, and there is yoga, boat trips, entertainment and excursions. Tennis courts are five minutes from the resort.

Food here moves between Western and Indonesian cooking:

Swimming
The resort’s own equipped sandy beach, with a beach club, is a five-minute walk down the hill.
Rooms
Rooms occupy pavilions and villas on the hillside. The high-ceilinged spaces are furnished in Indonesian style — teak, rare stone, elegant furniture and local art — with large terraces looking over the gardens and the sea.
Rooms have air conditioning, a telephone, a minibar and a hairdryer.
