The Oberoi Rajvilas

About this hotel

General information

The Oberoi Rajvilas spreads across 13 hectares of landscaped gardens in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan known as the Pink City. The resort follows traditional Rajasthani architecture, laid out like a fort among greenery, with quiet courtyards, reflection pools, fountains and mashaal torches lit at dusk. An old haveli mansion stands in the grounds, and private dinners are set up beside it.

Guests stay in rooms, villas and luxury tents, many with a private garden, patio or pool. Interiors borrow the language of Rajasthan’s palaces: arched doorways and windows, cushioned window seats, gilded details and hand-painted frescoes. Butler service runs around the clock, and the programme of experiences takes in visiting artisans, cookery sessions, Indian wine tastings and trips to Jaipur’s hilltop forts.

Location

The resort lies in Jaipur, in the state of Rajasthan, about 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Jaipur airport is 15 km away (around 30 minutes), Agra airport 230 km (about four hours) and Delhi’s international airport 250 km, roughly 4 hours 50 minutes by car. Hawa Mahal and Jaipur’s City Palace are 9–10 km away, Amber Fort 18 km. The hotel arranges airport transfers and chauffeured cars, and there is a helipad on site.

Spa

The spa is reserved for resident guests and follows the Asmi by Oberoi approach, built on five pillars: movement, nutrition, bodywork, breathwork and mindfulness. The menu covers Eastern and Western massages tailored to the guest, sensory rituals, body exfoliations and wraps, ILA facials and the signature Oberoi Experiences combinations. There is a steam room and a beauty salon, and instructors lead Yoga Stretch & Daily Reflections sessions, private classes included.

Sports & leisure

Alongside the 21-metre outdoor pool there is an air-conditioned gym with cardio machines and weights, plus a floodlit tennis court and pickleball area set in the gardens. Yoga and meditation are held in the gardens each day at no charge.

  • a half-day leopard safari in Jhalana, 12 km from the hotel, with leopards, Indian foxes, hyenas, spotted deer, nilgai and migratory birds;
  • sunset high tea at Naila Fort, a 19th-century pink-walled fort in the Aravalli hills;
  • hot-air balloon flights over Jaipur’s walled city and Amber Fort;
  • Indian wine tastings with the resident sommelier, and Cook with the Masters, a cookery session with a chef that ends in dinner;
  • demonstrations of miniature painting and of bangle-making with metal and semi-precious stones;
  • a vow-renewal day with henna painting, hair and make-up, and a private champagne dinner;
  • private tours of one to three days: the Amber, Jaigarh and Nahargarh forts, Hawa Mahal, the City Palace, the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar observatory and the stepwell at Abhaneri.
For children

Children’s activities include puppet shows, cookery classes with the chefs, block printing on fabric, drawing, pottery, kite flying and treasure hunts, and there is a children’s play area. Babysitting is available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Two restaurants and a bar are joined by private dining set up around the gardens; the restaurants also serve vegetarian and vegan dishes.

  • Surya Mahal – the all-day restaurant, a sunlit hall under a crystal chandelier with tables in an open courtyard; Western, Mediterranean, Asian and Indian dishes, plus a dedicated wellness menu;
  • Raj Mahal – a seasonal evening restaurant serving Indian cuisine beside outdoor fireplaces;
  • Rajwada Library Bar – a library bar for an aperitif or a nightcap, with fine wines, classic cocktails and single malts, chess, backgammon and leather-bound books;
  • private dining by the pool under torchlight, facing the old haveli – a Rajasthani thali or four courses; high tea or a candlelit dinner in the room’s own garden, served by the butler; and 24-hour in-room dining.
Swimming

The 21-metre main pool is temperature-controlled, decorated with water fountains and lit by traditional mashaal torches after dark; private poolside dinners can be arranged for couples. Many villas, tents and rooms have their own temperature-controlled pool, where a floating platter of mezze, fresh fruit and sparkling wine can be served.

Pets

Pets are not allowed.
