About this hotel
General information
The hotel sits at the very tip of an island in Kochi's harbour, with the harbour and the opening to the Arabian Sea on one side and the port and Kerala's backwaters on the other. Its architecture draws on the city's maritime past and the many cultures of Kochi and Ernakulam, while the interiors showcase Keralan textiles and crafts, from coir work to pottery. The hotel has its own jetties and is EarthCheck certified.
There are 82 rooms and 11 suites across two buildings of quite different character. The heritage wing keeps its timber arches, traditional Keralan motifs and period pieces, while the Tower wing favours clean contemporary lines and wide harbour views. Most rooms look out over water – the harbour, the backwaters or the sunset over the sea – and evenings tend to be spent by the infinity-edge pool or out on the harbour by boat.
Location
The hotel stands on an island in Kochi's harbour, between the old quarters of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, with their Chinese fishing nets and spice markets, and the busy mainland of Ernakulam. Mattancherry Palace is about 7.8 km away and the Marine Drive promenade 11.2 km. Kochi airport is roughly an hour by car; the hotel arranges airport transfers on request at least 24 hours before arrival, and can also organise boat and ferry crossings and chauffeured cars for getting around the city.
Spa
J Wellness Circle offers massages rooted in Indian traditions – among them Nidra, with bespoke blends of kewda, frankincense and brahmi in sandalwood and sesame oils, and Vishrama, with hot herbal compresses – along with Indian aromatherapy, the Posha scrub and the Sukha ritual of scrub, wrap, a vigorous Pehlwan Malish massage and a facial. Its natural-ingredient products were developed specifically for J Wellness Circle in Kerala, and the Ānana Lepā facial uses fresh ingredients straight from the kitchen. The spa's Ayurveda programme is run with AyurVAID and includes abhyanga, shirodhara, udvartana and the mukhalepa facial. Yoga and meditation sessions are led by an instructor.
Sports & leisure
Facilities include an infinity-edge pool, a second outdoor pool, a modern fitness centre and yoga with an instructor. The hotel arranges sunset cruises across Ernakulam's harbour, dolphin-watching trips, fishing outings, speedboat excursions, a traditional high tea, culinary and cultural experiences, and half-day or full-day tours of Kochi. There is also a games room, evening entertainment and the Khazana shop.
For children
Children have their own pool and a play area with activities, and a babysitter is available on the premises.
Restaurants & bars
Three restaurants and a bar, plus private dining in special spots around the grounds with menus planned with the chef.
- Pepper — all-day restaurant serving global and regional cuisine;
- Rice Boat — seafood restaurant built in the shape of a Keralan rice boat, with an open kitchen, moored at the water's edge;
- Dolphin's Point — open-air restaurant at the edge of the harbour: coastal cooking, grills and wood-fired pizzas, evenings only;
- Mattancherry Bar — sea-view bar with signature cocktails and bar bites, its interiors recalling the old quarters of Fort Kochi.
Swimming
The infinity-edge pool overlooks the backwaters and seems to spill into the sea, its surface mirroring the sky at sunset. There is a second outdoor pool and a children's pool, and two of the suites have private plunge pools. The hotel has no beach.

The 82 rooms and 11 suites come in two styles: traditional Keralan motifs and timber arches in the heritage wing, and contemporary interiors with harbour panoramas in the Tower wing. Butler service is available, and some rooms interconnect.
Each room has a minibar, tea and coffee maker, electronic safe, LCD TV, dual-line telephone, Italian bed linen, Wi-Fi, newspapers, 24-hour in-room dining, daily housekeeping with turndown and an iron on request.
