About this hotel
General information
The Leela Palace New Delhi is a modern palace in Chanakyapuri, a leafy district at the heart of the capital. Its pale stone building, with arched windows, colonnades and a gilded dome, wraps around an inner courtyard garden, and the interiors pair clean contemporary lines with ceremonial grandeur: marble, hand-carved wood, brass detailing, and large installations, murals and sculptures by Indian artists — enough for a guided art walk of its own.
There are 254 rooms and suites, the smallest starting at 51 m². The hotel is best known for its restaurants — Japanese Megu, Franco-Italian Le Cirque and Indian Jamavar — for its rooftop pool, and for The Leela Palace Service, in which a personal butler team looks after club and suite guests from before arrival onwards. Each evening at sunset a ceremony of classical music and dance takes place in the gardens, followed by tea.
Location
The hotel lies in Chanakyapuri, a spacious, green district in central New Delhi, well placed for the business districts and the city’s historic sights — the Red Fort, the Qutub Minar, the Lodhi Gardens and the lanes of Old Delhi. Delhi’s international airport is 15 km away, roughly 30–35 minutes by car depending on traffic. Royal Club rooms and all suites include return airport transfers in BMW cars, with an all-electric SUV available. The Taj Mahal at Agra is about three hours away by car, Jaipur about five.
Spa
The Spa spreads over two levels, with treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room, a relaxation lounge, a café, a salon and a roof terrace. The menu covers Ayurveda-inspired massages (abhyanga, shirodhara and a synchronised kizhi massage with herbal poultices), Swedish massage, scalp massage, facials and body treatments. The 60-minute Leela Signature Wellness Ritual begins with a foot ritual and consultation, moves on to a massage and ends in the steam room and sauna. Group or private sessions of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, pranayama breathing and meditation are held on the spa terrace.
Sports & leisure
Guests have a temperature-controlled rooftop pool and a fitness studio open around the clock. The hotel also runs its own programme:
- a guided art walk through the hotel’s installations, murals and sculptures by Indian artists;
- an evening ceremony in the gardens with classical music and dance, followed by tea;
- cooking masterclasses and themed culinary evenings;
- half-day or full-day excursions with the hotel’s own guide — New Delhi’s landmarks and gardens, the Lodhi Gardens and Sunder Nursery, and the food streets and markets of Old Delhi;
- a walk to the Khari Baoli spice market in Old Delhi, through narrow lanes of stalls selling spices, nuts, dried flowers and herbs.
Restaurants & bars
Four restaurants, a bar and a lobby lounge:
- Megu — modern Japanese cooking in a dining room hung with a vast bell; the outdoor Izakaya at Megu serves sharing plates and cocktails in the evening, and an omakase is prepared on request;
- Le Cirque — Franco-Italian dining on the first floor beneath a gold-toned glass ceiling: handmade pasta, risotto, seafood and tasting menus at dinner, with a wine cellar, a sommelier, a bar and a private dining room;
- Jamavar — Indian cooking from across the regions: dishes from the clay tandoor, coastal seafood, slow-cooked Awadhi preparations, biryanis and traditional desserts;
- The Qube — the all-day restaurant, a glasshouse-like room with open kitchens: buffets at breakfast and lunch, à la carte in the evening, Thai cooking in the Thai Studio and a Sunday brunch;
- The Library Bar — a fireside bar with Chesterfield chairs, old leather-bound books and a terrace, pouring signature cocktails, aged single malts from Scotland, Japan and India, cognacs and cigars (guests over 25);
- The Lobby Lounge — teas and desserts in the lobby.

The temperature-controlled outdoor pool sits on the roof, on the eleventh floor, with views over the city. Several suites have their own open-air pools with Jacuzzis.
