General information
Laluna Boutique Hotel & Villas is a small, family-run hotel on Portici Bay in south-west Grenada, two bays south of Grand Anse Beach. Its sixteen cottages are scattered down a hillside of tropical garden, from upper terraces looking out over the Caribbean Sea to a single cottage set right on the sand. The style takes its cue from Bali — open-plan rooms, four-poster beds, Balinese daybeds on the verandas, open-air bathrooms — with an easy Caribbean mood and Italian details throughout.
The hotel is a member of Design Hotels. Next door, the villas of Laluna Estate, with three, four or five bedrooms, share every hotel service. Calabrian cooking on the beach, an Asian spa staffed by Balinese therapists, daily yoga in a seaside pavilion and the Enchanted Forest – Art & Hospitality project, with its gallery of local art, set the tone. Children under 12 are not accommodated in the cottages.
Location
The hotel sits on the shore of Portici Bay in the south-west of Grenada. Grand Anse Beach is 5 minutes away by car or a scenic 20-minute walk, and Grenada's international airport is a 10–15-minute drive. The hotel arranges private transfers, and taxis wait outside the arrivals hall.
Spa
The Asian spa, part of the hotel's wellness centre, is staffed by Balinese therapists and opens every day except Monday. Treatments include traditional Balinese massage, a four-hand Indonesian massage, the Tatami massage in which the therapist works with the feet, hot stone massage, Vichy shower rituals, scrubs and detoxifying mud wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures. Reiki combined with craniosacral therapy can be booked as a personal healing session.
Sports & leisure
Group yoga — Yin, Vinyasa and Hatha — and Pilates take place daily in the beach pavilion at no charge, with private sessions available on request. Snorkelling gear, a Hobie Cat, stand-up paddleboards and kayaks are free to use for exploring the neighbouring coves. There is an air-conditioned Technogym gym overlooking the beach and the organic garden, a tennis court with racket hire and a tennis pro on request, a library and a boutique. A narrow path leads to Sunset Point, a promontory where the bar will send guests off with a bag of wine and glasses for the evening; the concierge helps plan days out across the island. The hotel also hosts weddings and whole-resort buyouts.
For children
Babysitting is available on request for guests staying in the Laluna Estate villas. The cottages do not accommodate children under 12.
Restaurants & bars
Dining at Laluna revolves around the sea:
- Italian restaurant — under a thatched roof on the beach, Calabrian cooking with a Caribbean twist; breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus room service
- Sunset Bar & Lounge — the place for sundowners over the Caribbean Sea
- The Monkey Bar — a laid-back beach bar at the far end of the sand, with hammocks, its own menu and reggae; open Friday to Sunday, next to the Art Studio and its gallery of local art
Breakfast, half board (breakfast and dinner, drinks excluded) or all-inclusive — breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks served by the glass — can be added when booking.
Swimming
The hotel has its own sandy beach on Portici Bay; like every beach in Grenada it is public, but the public access lies at its far end, so it is usually quiet. Most cottages have a private plunge pool, each villa has an infinity pool facing the sea, and there is also a shared pool for guests.
Rooms
The sixteen Balinese-style cottages are for two guests each, the Two Bedroom Cottage for four, and most categories have a private plunge pool on the veranda. The Laluna Estate villas, with separate bedrooms, a kitchen and an infinity pool, are let for a minimum of three nights (one week from 23 December to 4 January); a daily housekeeper (4 hours), pool cleaning and a four-seater electric golf car are included, while a private chef, butler, bartender, personal trainer and pre-arrival grocery shopping can be added.
The cottages have a four-poster king-size bed with Italian linen, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, a direct-dial phone, free Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker, a minibar with complimentary water, tea and coffee, a walk-in closet with a safe, umbrella and yoga mat, and an open-air bathroom with a hairdryer, bathrobes and Italian toiletries.
Cottage Suite
A semi-detached cottage on the upper hillside, about 60 steps from the beach and main house, with sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. French doors lead from the bedroom to a veranda with a Balinese daybed and a private plunge pool; sleeps 2.
Deluxe Cottage Garden
A free-standing cottage on the hillside above the sea, just 30 steps from the beach and among the most secluded at the hotel. Its veranda, with a Balinese daybed and private plunge pool, looks over the garden; sleeps 2.
Deluxe Cottage Ocean
A free-standing hillside cottage 30 steps from the beach, with sea views from a veranda that holds a Balinese daybed and a private plunge pool; sleeps 2.
Beach Cottage Deluxe
The only cottage set directly on the beach: a free-standing retreat whose French doors open onto a veranda with a daybed and a plunge pool a few steps from the water; sleeps 2.
Two Bedroom Cottage
Two neighbouring hillside suites with sea views, each with its own bedroom, open-air bathroom and plunge pool. Sleeps 4.
Three Bedroom Villa
A Laluna Estate villa with three bedrooms, each with its own shower room, an open-plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen, a stone terrace with barbecue and an infinity pool above the Caribbean Sea; sleeps 6.
Four Bedroom Villa
Four bedrooms with private shower rooms, open-plan living space, a fully equipped kitchen, a stone terrace with barbecue and an infinity pool with sea views; sleeps 8.
Five Bedroom Villa
A Laluna Estate villa with five bedrooms with private shower rooms, a generous open-plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen, a stone terrace with barbecue and an infinity pool overlooking the sea; sleeps 10.
