The Excelsior Hotel

The Excelsior Hotel is a five-star boutique address in central Thessaloniki, a short walk from Aristotelous Square. It occupies an Art Deco building whose white façade and full-length windows have been preserved, while the interiors are resolutely contemporary. The lobby sets the tone with a marble staircase, white modern furniture and a pendant light of oversized red leaves; upstairs, Italian designer pieces sit alongside original artworks.

Thirty-six rooms and suites are spread over six floors. The hotel belongs to Small Luxury Hotels of the World and holds Green Key certification. For private dinners, receptions and meetings there are two spaces: the 125 m² Mezzanine and the Ismini conference room, 95 m² and seating up to 60. Services include a concierge, a 24-hour front desk, room service, laundry, a doctor on call and a VIP airport pick-up.

The gym at the neighbouring sister hotel is open to guests daily from 08:00 to 20:00, and bicycles and cars can be hired through the hotel. Two signature experiences introduce the region:

• Eat like a Local — a two-hour walk through the historic centre with Marmita, stopping seven times for northern Greek cheeses, olives, pies and sweets.
• Vineyard Tour — a private two-hour visit to the Gerovassiliou Estate on the slopes of Epanomi, taking in the vines, the production and ageing areas and the Wine Museum, followed by a tasting of six wines with Greek cheeses.
