General information
Kivotos Mykonos is a five-star boutique hotel at the far end of Ornos beach, on the south-west coast of Mykonos. The Michopoulos family first imagined it as a family villa, sparked by the sight of an antique French mirror against a white wall. Construction began in 1986, with artists and some of Greece’s leading sculptors creating works for the building, and the first guests arrived in 1993. Forty suites and villas step down a rocky hillside to the hotel’s own beach, and since 2025 Kivotos has been part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts collection.
The architecture follows Cycladic tradition – whitewash with touches of blue, taupe and green, stone, wood and Pentelic marble. Inside, contemporary painting shares space with exact replicas of Delian artefacts, rare 17th- and 18th-century pieces and a collection of Louis Vuitton trunks, while Kivotos Art Projects, a platform for Greek contemporary art launched in 2013, fills the public areas, suites and gallery. The grounds hold a chapel, an art gallery, a boutique and a hair salon, and the hotel’s own yacht, Prince de Neufchatel, lies at anchor in Ornos Bay.
Location
The hotel sits on Ornos Bay on Mykonos, in the Cyclades, at the end of a wind-sheltered, soft-sand beach. Hora, the island’s capital with its windmills and Little Venice, is 3 km away – about five minutes by car – and buses and boats run regularly from Ornos to other beaches, Hora and the island of Delos. Airport and port transfers are arranged by the hotel.
Spa
ONAR Wellness & Spa draws on the medicinal plants of the Greek flora and ancient Greek recipes, pairing them with modern wellness practice. The menu covers signature face and body rituals, advanced facials and holistic therapies, and there is also a hammam.
Sports & leisure
The main saltwater pool sits on the lower level just above the beach, with underwater music, a Jacuzzi and a swim-up bar; a second, freshwater pool with an open-air Jacuzzi is set among scented gardens on the upper level. Neptune fitness centre is fitted with Technogym equipment, yoga classes take place morning and evening on the beach deck, and Pilates is offered too. The concierge can arrange private jet and yacht charters, and Ornos beach next door has water-sports and scuba-diving schools.
For children
Cots are available on request and high chairs are provided in the restaurants; the two-bedroom suites sleep four to five.
Restaurants & bars
Two restaurants and a bar are joined by a dedicated breakfast venue and private dining.
- Namah Fine Dining – dinner of fresh fish, international and Mediterranean dishes among marble, artworks and candlelight, looking out over Ornos beach
- Namah – an à la carte poolside restaurant on a shaded patio serving Mediterranean fusion, salads, pasta and local dishes at lunch, with a barbecue buffet on Saturdays
- AM du Chef – à la carte breakfast of international and local dishes, with lighter options
- Del Mar – a swim-up pool bar known for inventive cocktails and music
- Nero Nero – private dinners on the beach, in a secluded corner of the grounds or aboard the hotel’s yacht
Swimming
Directly below the lower pool is a private beach reserved for hotel guests – a sheltered curve of white sand with umbrellas, sunloungers and beach towels, where food and drinks are served from Del Mar. The public sandy beach of Ornos is a five-minute walk away.
Rooms
Forty Cycladic-style suites and villas, each with a furnished balcony or terrace; most look over Ornos Bay and a number have their own pool.
Each suite has individually controlled air conditioning, LCD satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker, espresso machine, kettle with tea and coffee, minibar, safe, writing desk, phone, cotton linen, a pillow menu, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and luxury toiletries, with 24-hour room service and twice-daily housekeeping.

A spacious queen-size bedroom, a living room with sofa, one or two bathrooms and furnished verandas with a private pool. Sleeps up to 3.

A king-size bedroom, large sitting area, bathroom with bath and steam cabin, and a private pool with an all-glass front and an outdoor seating area facing the sea. Sleeps up to 3.

Two queen-size bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a lounge with classic furniture and a patio with a plunge pool and open sea views. Sleeps up to 5.
Mykonos Honeymoon Luxury Suite with Outdoor Jetted Tub
A minimal suite with a king-size bedroom, large sitting area, fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with rain shower, a dressing room and an open-air jetted tub looking out to sea. Sleeps up to 3.
Two Bedroom Suite with Pool
Two interconnecting open-plan suites, each with a queen-size bedroom, living room and shower room, sharing a furnished sea-view terrace with sunloungers and a private pool. Sleeps up to 5.
Junior Suite
A ground-level suite with a double bed, a cosy sitting area, a bathroom with bath or shower and a furnished veranda over the garden. Sleeps 2.
Villa Infinity with Private Pool (1 bedroom)
A one-bedroom villa with a king bed, large sitting area, bathroom with bath and shower, a private pool and a generous outdoor lounge facing the sea. Sleeps up to 3.
Villa Hideaway with Infinity Private Pool
A two-bedroom villa just above sea level with a large living area, walk-in wardrobe, two bathrooms (one with a steam cabin), a broad sunbathing terrace and an infinity pool overlooking the sea. Sleeps up to 5.
Villa Noah’s Waterfront with Private Pool & Private Beach
A three-level waterfront villa with a lift, glass floors and a separate entrance on each floor: a lounge and a pool that runs from outside to inside below, a master bedroom with balcony over Ornos Bay above, a bar, long antique table and kitchenette on top, and its own stretch of beach with sunloungers in front. Sleeps 2.
