Amanzoe

About this hotel

General information

Amanzoe opened in 2012 on a hilltop near ancient Porto Heli, its slopes running down to a secluded beach and the turquoise Aegean. The architecture pairs contemporary design with elements of ancient Greek architecture, set among gardens, pine forest and the olive groves of the Peloponnese. Each of the 38 pavilions and villas has its own pool and a generous terrace looking over the bay.

Life on the hill revolves around a large main pool with sea views, the Aman Spa, a fitness centre and tennis courts. A separate beach club, with the Nura restaurant, four pools and overnight pavilions, sits by the water, while the main building holds a multilingual library, a boutique and gallery, and a concierge who arranges yacht and helicopter charters.

Location

The resort lies on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese, 10 minutes’ drive from Porto Heli. Athens is about 2.5 hours away by car, or 25 minutes by helicopter from Athens airport; there is a helipad on site.

Spa

Aman Spa has seven treatment rooms, two hammams, a relaxation area and a beauty salon. Face and body treatments draw on Asian and Greek traditions and use natural local products such as olive oil.

Sports & leisure

Facilities include a large outdoor pool with panoramic sea views, two tennis courts, a fitness centre, and a studio for yoga and Pilates. Mountain bikes and tennis equipment are available to hire, and the resort organises boat trips, fishing, helicopter flights, wine tastings and excursions to the sites of ancient Greece.

For children

Children have their own pool and a playground.

Restaurants & bars

Dining spans the Mediterranean and Japan, and most tables are set outdoors:

  • Main restaurant — Greek and Mediterranean cooking in the dining room and on a sea-view terrace
  • Akari — Japanese washoku on the hilltop: sushi, sashimi, premium sake and an extensive wine list, dinner only
  • Nura — seasonal Mediterranean cuisine on Korakia beach, open from morning to evening
  • Pool restaurant — light dishes and snacks throughout the day
  • Lounge bar — cocktails, aperitifs and light bites at any hour

In-room dining is available.

Swimming

The beach club is 5 minutes by car, 10 by bicycle or half an hour on foot through the pine forest. It is a destination in itself, with four pools, the Nura restaurant, a boutique, three beach pavilions for overnight stays, a two-room spa, lounges and a gym.
