Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich

About this hotel

General information

Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich opened in 1858 on Maximilianstraße, the boulevard named after King Maximilian II, at whose wish the city’s “noblest hotel” was built here. The grand hotel has remained one of Munich’s defining addresses ever since, surrounded by designer boutiques, galleries and the Bavarian State Opera, with Marienplatz a few minutes’ walk away.

Interiors blend classic and contemporary design with a royal Bavarian touch. The upper floors hold the Royal Wing, a group of suites above the rooftops, while Kempinski The Spa with its indoor pool sits at the top of the building. There are 13 event spaces, the largest being the 510 m² Ballroom Maximilian for up to 600 guests, used for conferences and wedding receptions alike.

Location

The hotel stands at Maximilianstraße 17 in central Munich: the Bavarian State Opera is 3–4 minutes on foot, Marienplatz and the Old Town about 8 minutes, the English Garden about 10 and the Pinakothek museums 15–20. The nearest stops are Marienplatz (S-Bahn and U-Bahn) and the Kammerspiele tram stop. Munich Airport is around 45 minutes by car; the hotel arranges transfers on request and has an underground garage with EV charging.

Spa

Kempinski The Spa sits high above the city with views over Munich’s rooftops: a heated indoor pool with a rooftop terrace, saunas, a steam room and a fitness centre. Massages, facials and body treatments draw on the healing power of nature, and day-spa experiences are also available.

Sports & leisure
  • Heated indoor pool with a rooftop terrace
  • Fitness centre in the spa; the Kempinski FIT Room comes with its own Technogym bike
  • Saunas and a steam room overlooking the rooftops
  • Maximilianstraße’s boutiques and galleries on the doorstep, with the opera and the English Garden within walking distance
For children

Younger guests are welcome in the pool area every day from 9:00 to 16:00.

Restaurants & bars

Dining revolves around the Schwarzreiter name and the hotel’s celebrated lobby:

  • Schwarzreiter Restaurant — fine dining with a modern menu on Maximilianstraße
  • Schwarzreiter Tagesbar — the relaxed side, with straightforward Bavarian dishes à la carte
  • Jahreszeiten Bar — a classic American bar with cosy nooks and a regal air
  • Jahreszeiten Lobby — coffee, tea and the hotel’s own patisserie
  • Kempinski Cigar Lounge by Zechbauer — fine cigars and snacks in the mood of a British gentlemen’s club

A breakfast buffet of international and regional dishes is served every morning.

Pets

Dogs are always welcome and receive a blanket and a feeding bowl. They may not enter the breakfast area, the Jahreszeiten Bar, the fine-dining restaurant or the spa, but are welcome in the lobby and at lunch or dinner.
