About this hotel
General information
The Florentin sits in the green, quiet Sachsenhausen district on the south bank of the Main: a historic city villa of 1901, now a listed building, joined by contemporary wings. The villa was designed in a historicist idiom with Gothic and Renaissance touches — a fine stone façade, pronounced projecting bays and a corner tower. The hotel is conceived as an urban retreat within busy Frankfurt, and its heart is the lushly planted inner courtyard that gives the house its name, taken from the Latin word for ‘blooming’.
Interiors are calm and pared back, built on clean lines, oak and chestnut, travertine and marble, natural tones and soft textiles. There are 147 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a bar with a cigar lounge and a spa with an indoor pool. The most private part is the villa itself, with its themed Signature Suites, salons, winter garden and private kitchen, which can also be taken in its entirety as a residence of its own. The hotel partners with the Städel Museum, a walk away.
Location
The hotel stands at Paul-Ehrlich-Straße 9 in Sachsenhausen, a few steps from the Main and close to Frankfurt’s museum quarter. The main railway station is a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute drive, and Frankfurt Airport is about 12 minutes by taxi. Subject to availability, the concierge can use a Porsche for selected transfers, and villa guests receive a complimentary transfer to the airport on departure.
Spa
The Spa brings together water, heat and rest: at its centre is a daylit indoor pool, flanked by a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, a steam bath and an infrared cabin, bright relaxation rooms in wood and natural fabrics, and a spa garden. Five treatment rooms include one for couples; treatments are carried out in cooperation with Dr. Barbara Sturm, follow a sequence of cleansing, activation and regeneration, and are adjusted to how the guest feels on the day. The spa is open daily from 7am to 8pm.
Sports & leisure
The gym, fitted with Technogym Artis equipment, is open to hotel guests around the clock, and the hotel’s sports specialists help with endurance, strength or flexibility goals. The indoor pool in the spa is there for laps. A partnership with the Städel Museum brings art into the stay, and the concierge helps guests plan their time in Frankfurt.
For children
Families are welcome, and children can be noted when booking. The Garden restaurant has its own children’s menu, and the spa sets aside dedicated hours for children, from 8am to 9am and from 4pm to 5pm.
Restaurants & bars
The two restaurants and the bar each have their own character:
- The Garden — the main restaurant: modern European cooking with regional influences and plenty of dishes for sharing, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a terrace in the afternoon
- the dune — contemporary fine dining in a clean, modern room of travertine, wood and leather, with tasting menus and a wine list of nearly 900 labels, plus a Fine Bites and Wine format of small plates; open in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday
- The Florentin Bar — cocktails and a curated choice of wines and spirits beside the green central garden
- Cigar Lounge — fine cigars with matching drinks, custom humidors and deep armchairs
Swimming
The 14 m × 5 m indoor pool, lit by natural daylight, lies at the centre of the spa, a few steps from the loungers, the saunas, the relaxation area and the spa garden.
Pets
Dogs are welcome and should be mentioned when booking. They are not permitted in the dune restaurant.
