The Telegraph Hotel

About this hotel

General information

The Telegraph occupies the modernist building that once housed the city’s central post and telegraph office, on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi’s main thoroughfare. The building is known for its strong façade, heavy cornices and the way it steps down the sloping ground. In the conversion its concrete frame was left exposed and paired with walnut, fluted glass and brass, while the green that runs through the interiors takes its cue from old telephone switchboard lamps.

There are 239 rooms and suites, facing either the avenue or the inner courtyard. Nine restaurants and bars share the building – from Italian and Thai kitchens to a jazz club and a rooftop bar – alongside a wellness studio with a gym and a Pilates room. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and guests in the Club categories have their own lounge with a dedicated concierge.

Location

The hotel stands at 31 Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi: the Georgian National Museum is 0.5 km away, the Opera and Ballet Theatre 0.6 km, Old Tbilisi about 1.2 km, the funicular up Mtatsminda 1.5 km, Narikala Fortress 2.2 km and the Abanotubani sulphur baths 2.3 km. Tbilisi International Airport is 18 km away; transfers are arranged by the hotel on request. Paid open-air parking and EV charging are available on site.

Spa

The Wellness Studio has treatment rooms for massage, recovery and individually tailored treatments, a fully equipped gym with personal trainers, and a dedicated Pilates room for solo practice or instructor-led sessions on a daily timetable.

Sports & leisure

Personal trainers are on hand in the gym, and the Pilates room follows a daily class timetable. From Wednesday to Sunday Tatuza Jazz Club hosts local and international jazz acts – up to 30 live sets a month – while the Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar hosts live performances.

The concierge builds personal itineraries: a half-day with a driver to Mtskheta and Jvari Monastery, about 30 minutes north; evenings at the Opera and Ballet Theatre; walks up to Narikala Fortress and Mtatsminda. Golfers can have tee times and transport arranged to Tbilisi Hills Golf Club, 17 km from the hotel.

Restaurants & bars

Nine restaurants and bars carry the day from breakfast to late-night jazz:

  • Grand Café – European and Georgian cooking for breakfast and dinner, with tableside flambé and inventive desserts
  • Philosophico – Italian and European dishes for unhurried lunches and dinners
  • The Grill – steakhouse cooking over open flame, from prime steaks to whole grilled lobster
  • Laan Thai – Thai cuisine made with Georgian produce at lunch and dinner, plus tea-based cocktails
  • Rolling Stone Rooftop Bar – rooftop bar with city views, brunch and dinner menus, signature cocktails, live sets and DJs
  • Tatuza Jazz Club – intimate jazz club with live music, cocktails and a full menu, open Wednesday to Sunday until 1:00
  • Wine Library – wine bar and reading room with a curated wine list and shelves of books, open daily from noon to midnight
  • Courtyard Bar – cocktail bar in the covered inner courtyard
  • Bell & Gray – fireside café serving bowls, poke and plant-based dishes, with cocktails from the central bar
