About this hotel
General information
Stamba fills a former printing house in Tbilisi’s Vera district, and the building wears its industrial past openly: a five-storey, greenhouse-like atrium, steel balconies running along the upper floors and the original drying rack, kept in place and now draped in trailing plants. Walls lined with thousands of books, brass details, oversized crystal chandeliers and mid-century lamps give the public spaces the air of a gallery crossed with a library.
The hotel works as a small cultural quarter. Around the rooms are a café and bakery, a natural-wine shop, a chocolate workshop and coffee roastery, a vertical farm on the ground floor, a photography and multimedia museum, a design shop with its own atelier, a round-the-clock co-working space and an open-air amphitheatre for concerts, talks and performances; the wooden rooftop, looking out over the lights of the city, hosts dinners and private gatherings. Rooms draw on vintage aviation and are hung with work by contemporary Georgian artists.
Location
The hotel stands in the Vera district in central Tbilisi; directly across the street, in a 19th-century building, is Lolita, the bar and restaurant that belongs to Stamba’s own dining line-up.
Sports & leisure
Guests have free use of D Block, the 24-hour co-working space with meeting rooms and communal corners. The open-air amphitheatre is an everyday communal space and regularly hosts concerts, talks, shows and workshops that run late into the night, while the Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum runs exhibitions and discussions on site.
The hotel’s guides lead walks through Tbilisi – both the main sights and an insider’s route – and day trips around the country: Mtskheta and a rock-hewn cave town, the Gergeti Trinity Church, hikes and canyoning in Adjara, Batumi’s botanical garden and a walk through the city, catamaran sailing lessons and scenic flights from Tbilisi.
Restaurants & bars
Food and drink run from breakfast at the bakery to late evenings at the wine bar, with much of the produce grown on the hotel’s own farm in Kakheti:
- Café Stamba – Georgian dishes reworked with international flavours, a seasonal menu from local produce, an open kitchen, vintage booths and a leafy terrace
- Pink Bar – the pink cocktail bar inside Café Stamba, for cocktails, desserts and the buzz of the city
- Asian Corner – ramen bar using ingredients sourced locally or directly from Japan
- Stamba Bakery – sourdough breads and pastries made with Georgian wheat from the hotel’s farm
- Chocolaterie & Roastery – coffee roasted on site and bean-to-bar chocolate from Venezuelan, Malagasy, Peruvian and Colombian cocoa
- Warehouse – bar and shop for natural, organic and biodynamic wines, with more than 400 labels and bottles to take away
- Udabno Shop – produce from the Udabno farm: almond-based treats, eggs, dairy, vegan ice cream and pastries
- Lolita – bar and restaurant over three floors of the building opposite, with handcrafted cocktails, a menu inspired by New American cooking and an open kitchen outdoors
