About this hotel
General information
Spread across 60 hectares around Lake Lopota at the foot of the Greater Caucasus, this Kakheti resort is open through all four seasons. Sixteen buildings holding 310 rooms are set among forest, meadows and vines along the shore; every room has a balcony, and the interiors take their cue from nature, with painted leaf and willow murals, velvet, oak and terracotta walls. Swans and ducks keep to the water, while an organic garden, olive trees and beehives fill the grounds.
The resort makes its own wine at Château Buera, whose organic vineyards lie in the Napareuli microzone and whose wines are aged both in qvevri and in European oak. Alongside sit the Forest Spa by Valmont on a hillside above the lake, a jazz club of rounded timber architecture, several restaurants, seven outdoor pools and an adventure centre, making Lopota as suited to a quiet stay for two as to a family holiday.
Location
The resort lies on the shore of Lake Lopota near Napareuli, in the Telavi municipality of Kakheti, about two hours from Tbilisi. Forested foothills of the Greater Caucasus surround it, and walking trails open onto views of the Alazani Valley.
Spa
Set on a hillside above the lake with panoramic views, the Forest Spa follows the method of the Swiss brand Valmont and uses its products for face and body rituals based on Alpine ingredients, massages and hydrotherapy. The spa is open from 10 am to 10 pm, and guests also have an indoor pool with a Finnish sauna and a hot tub.
Sports & leisure
Activities are run from the resort’s own Adventure Center:
- quad-bike tours through the Kakheti countryside, on routes of different lengths;
- cycling along the lake shore, through fields and around the vineyards;
- hard tennis courts against a mountain backdrop, mini-football and basketball courts, table tennis and badminton;
- fishing from wooden platforms on the lake (gear from the Adventure Center), pedal boats and a catamaran;
- walking trails for every level through the forest to historic sites and viewpoints over the Alazani Valley;
- tastings and tours of the Château Buera vineyards and cellars with a sommelier, on the terrace or as a picnic among the vines;
- a fitness centre equipped by Technogym;
- in summer, the Green Aqua water park with nine attractions, plus trips across Kakheti on routes the resort team helps to plan.
For children
The Kids Club has indoor and outdoor areas with safe play equipment and eco-friendly toys. Two of the outdoor pools have dedicated children’s areas, and in summer the Green Aqua water park offers nine attractions for children and adults alike.
